Come one, come all to the Happiest Place on Earth. With countless rides and attractions, the Disney Theme Park has found new ways to build memories.

A popular attraction turned successful film has been the Haunted Mansion. First translated to film in 2003 starring Eddie Murphy, Terence Stamp, Wallace Shawn, Marsha Thomason, and Jennifer Tilly, the film is getting a new face. Instead of Eddie Murphy reprising the lead role, the film will focus on a single mother moving into a haunted mansion and calling a paranormal investigator to get to the bottom of the strange happenings taking place.

Among the new cast will be LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, and Rosario Dawson. With such a diverse and star-studded cast, the cast is not the only thing different about The Haunted Mansion film.

According to comicbook.com, “the new Haunted Mansion is rated PG-13 for ‘some thematic elements and scary action.’” Some of these “thematic elements and scary action” will evoke a sense of nostalgia for those familiar with the popular ride and 2003 film. Much of this is seen in the newly released trailer; the sinking elevator being a clear indication.

According to Linda Codega of gizmodo.com, the film’s director Justin Simie of Dear White People and the comedy horror movie Bad Hair, will be implementing a “campy” and “horror” vibe reminiscent of a classic whodunit.

The central plot reads as “a group of people in a haunted house have to figure out a way to dispel the spirits trapped inside or risk becoming part of the haunting forever.” Rosario Dawson, who will be playing single mother Gabbie, is set to appear in theaters on July 28th.
