'Chainsaw Man - The Movie' To Debut On September 19th

The AnimeJapan event brought good news to Chainsaw Man fans. While the manga has already been adapted into an anime television series, a movie is in the works. The film Chainsaw Man- The Movie: Reze Arc will focus on the same-named arc in the manga. According to MAPPA, “Denji became “Chainsaw Man”, a boy with a devil's heart, and is now part of Special Division 4's devil hunters. After a date with Makima, the woman of his dreams, Denji takes shelter from the rain. There he meets Reze, a girl who works in a café.” The film’s staff also confirmed the inclusion of the character Bomb and released a visual at the event. 

Reina Ueda will play Reze in the movie. Tatsuya Yoshhara is the film’s director and has previously worked on the anime series as a storyboarder, key animator, and episode director. Hiroshi Seko and Kazutaka Sugiyama, both return from the anime series as the screenwriter and character designer respectively. Other staff working on the film include Assistant Director Masato Nakazono, Sub Character Designer Sota Yamazaki, Main Animator Shōichi, Music Kensuke Ushio, and Action Animation Director Sōta Shigetsugu. Riki Matsuura and Kiyotaka Oshiyama are Devil Designers while Aya Yamamoto will serve as the Costume Director. Art Director Yūsuke Takada, Color Designer Naomi Nakano, Color Script Riku, 3DCG Directors Daiki Watanabe, and Masahiro Tamai, Compositing Director Teppei Ito, and Editor Masato Yoshitake round out the film staff. Reze Arc hits Japanese theaters on September 19. No Western release has been announced yet.
