CEOs Refuse To Counter Latest SAG-AFTRA Offer During Negotiations
Labor is experiencing a surge in momentum unseen in decades, and unions are securing incredible wins for their members. A great example is none other than the WGA and their nearly 150-day strike, which ended recently with 99% of votes to approve the new industry contract. Soon after, SAG-AFTRA and the AMPTP returned to the bargaining table as well, a sign that perhaps they too were nearing the end of their strike. In a lengthy post on social media, SAG-AFTRA described the situation as the CEOs walked away after the union’s latest offer, refusing to counter. It also claims that the AMPTP, just last week, put forth an offer that was lower than the one they proposed before the strike, despite SAG-AFTRA’s good faith negotiations. The post also claims that the studios refused to address the union’s concerns on AI and actor likeness and that SAG-AFTRA’s counters on pay and revenue sharing would only cost the studios less than 57 cents per subscriber a year, resorting to misinformation in the media.
