'Black Adam' May Not Be The Huge Box Office Win Warner Bros. Discovery Thought It Was
Warner Bros. Discovery had been hoping for big results from Black Adam, but it seems their latest DCU film is set to be a big flop.
Though Black Adam has been one of the biggest recent releases by Warner Bros. Discovery, a new report suggests that the movie could lose around $100 million after its theatrical release has finished. With just $384 of the $600 million it would need to break even, Black Adam seems set to lose Warner more than the supposed budget of the cancelled Batgirl film.

Though Dwayne Johnson had been hyping the movie a lot, it seems that alone wasn’t enough to attract audiences to see what had been heralded as the first step of the new DCU. The character might be popular among comic book fans, but their investment in the character likely pales when put against the giants of the DC cast. Despite a leak that revealed Henry Cavill would return as Superman, and that he would have a cameo within the film, the buzz surrounding such a leak failed to attract the masses.
The loss from this film is sure to have been noticed by Warner, though whether it will change their current plans is yet unknown. Drastic actions have been taken since the merger of Warner Bros. and Discovery as the company tries to claim some profit amid their $47.5 billion net debt, some of which have caused further losses. Perhaps this time, Warner will avoid creating more problems for themselves, and leave their upcoming slate of films – including DCU films Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Flash – alone.
