Bioware's 'Star Wars: The Old Republic' Celebrates Its 11th Anniversary As It Outlives Its Predecessor
It’s been eleven years since the launch of Star Wars: The Old Republic and the game seems to be doing all right. We are on the heels of a new update, and player activity is at a high. If there’s anyone who knows what the future will bring, it's Project Director Keith Kanneg. He recently gave the players some information about the future of the game, while reflecting on its past. Knights of the Old Republic may be in a bit of limbo, but its successor is still going strong.
Work has already begun on the next updates, as the team hopes to bring the game up to date. Testing on the Public Test Server is already complete, and the team is ready for the next stages. Some modernization has already happened, with the forums and launcher getting a serious upgrade. The design leads have been, “working together to build upon and in some areas rebuild internal processes and plans that impact the cadence of content”. The team plans to share more details early next year, and that’s where this part of the story ends. New events are now running, with Double XP and discounts on Pets, Toys, and Collections to tide the players over.
