Dragon Age fans rejoice, as the new game, which has been renamed Dragon Age: The Veilguard, will be coming out this Fall. Not much was known about the game for a while, until this year at Summer Game Fest, where fans were treated to an official trailer. The trailer showed the companions that will aid you on your quest, and also the appearance of Varric, who appeared in previous games. The trailer wasn’t the only thing released, however, as a 15-minute gameplay trailer was also released and it gives more insight into what fans can expect from the upcoming game.

The game takes place 9 years after the events of Dragon Age: Inquisition. You play a character called ‘Rook’. From the gameplay footage, we see Rook and Varric talking about their lead to find Solas, who seems to be the primary antagonist of the game. At one point, a ritual begins, and we see Rook and Varric run to find and stop Solas, who is currently summoning demons. Solas wants to tear down the Veil and bring back the world to how it was before. It seems that there will be many familiar characters making an appearance throughout the game as well.

From the footage we saw, the game looks gorgeous. The graphics have definitely improved since its predecessor. The music played in the footage fits the scene quite well, and we’re in for a great soundtrack if it sounds anything like the previous games. The dialogue wheel is back, which is a staple of Bioware games. Here you can find out more information, and choose if you want to lean more good or bad. The combat seems to have also improved since the last game as well. It looks much more fluid and easier to move between enemies. There will also be an ability wheel, where you can seamlessly switch between abilities and weapons that you have at your disposal.

This gameplay footage was the first fifteen minutes of the game, and from what we’ve seen, it looks incredible. It’s wonderful to see Varric again, especially in an older state. Dragon Age fans finally have something to look forward to again, and it definitely looks like it was worth the wait.
