'Beetlejuice 2' Has Finished Filming, According To Tim Burton
After being on the verge of being completed for months, Beetlejuice 2 has finished filming, according to a post made by Tim Burton on Instagram. Filming had shut down during the SAG-AFTRA strike, apparently with only two days’ worth of filming left. When the strike began Burton commented “I feel grateful we got what we got. Literally, it was a day and a half. We know what we have to do. It is 99 percent done.”
Beetlejuice 2 is the sequel to the 1988 film Beetlejuice. Michael Keaton, who will play the titular character will return, as will Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara. Jenna Ortega, Willem Dafoe, Monica Bellucci, and Justin Theroux will be joining the cast.

“On this last one, Beetlejuice 2, I really enjoyed it,” the director also said, discussing the film’s focus on practical effects. “I tried to strip everything and go back to the basics of working with good people and actors and puppets. It was kind of like going back to why I liked making movies.”
Keaton also shared some excitement for the movie. “It’s so fun, it’s so great. And you know what it is? We’re doing it exactly like we did the first movie. There’s a woman in the great waiting room for the afterlife literally with a fishing line – I want people to know this because I love it – tugging on the tail of a cat to make it move.”
Beetlejuice 2 will hit theatres on September 6, 2024.
