'Batgirl' Star Leslie Grace Says The Cut Of The Film She Saw Was Incredible
Last summer, when Batgirl was canceled, film star Leslie Grace found out the same way the rest of us did, via the reports by the media, right before her phone started blowing up. “I thought I was getting punked, but I checked it out,” she said, before describing the hysterical laughter that came over her, before finishing with “You’ve got to be kidding me.” Although there’s no way to know for sure, one possibility for the surprise could very well be the fact that she loved the cut of the film that she saw.
In an interview with Variety, she mentioned the cut of the film that she saw. “There were a bunch of scenes that weren’t even in there. They were at the beginning of the editing process, and they were cut off because of everything going on at the company.” She then spoke highly of what she saw. “But the film that I got to see — the scenes that were there — was incredible. There was definitely potential for a good film, in my opinion. Maybe we’ll get to see clips of it later on.”

At the time of the cancellation, DC Studios head Peter Safran seemed to disagree. He stated that the film was “not releasable,” and that it would have “hurt those involved in making it.”
Grace has recently told Variety that she hasn’t heard anything from Safran or James Gunn. She continued to voice disappointment, going beyond her feelings for the movie. “What I find most lamentable is that now a whole generation of little girls are going to have to wait longer to see a Batgirl.”
It is currently unknown if another Batgirl movie will be made.
