‘Baldur's Gate 3’ Is One Of Steam's Biggest Launches Ever

The RPG Baldur’s Gate 3 has taken Steam by storm since its release on August 3rd, 2023. Based on the 5th edition of the Dungeons & Dragons rules set, the game allows the player to create custom characters from races and classes in a colorful, interactive world.
It’s currently second on the Steam “most played” list, beaten only by Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. 814,466 fans of the game have racked up over 84,984,019 hours of gameplay on the platform. True to D&D, there is a sense of humor built into the game, and players can choose to complete quests or wander around the world at their leisure, kicking squirrels or hitting NPC’s over the head with a carrot.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently only available on PC, which might explain its instant popularity on Steam. It is due to have a release on PlayStation 5, though not until September 5th. Its preorder figures are reportedly huge.
Xbox users are going to have to wait for Baldur’s Gate 3. Larian Studios have planned to bring the game out on the Microsoft console, but they are still having issues adapting certain features for the Xbox S. Currently, a release isn’t planned until 2024.
