‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty' Announced As Part Of Marvel Studios Phase 5 During San Diego Comic-Con

Kang The Conqueror

On Saturday Marvel Studios confirmed at the San Diego Comic-Con, and through social media, two new Avengers movies for 2025. One of them is Avengers: Kang Dynasty, with a release date of May 2nd if everything goes right according to their schedule. The other Avengers movie will be released on November 7th, with the name Avengers: Secret Wars. They also showed a timeline for the upcoming phases of the MCU with brand new series and movies as well.

This new Avengers movie will feature a new antagonist for the Avengers team in the form of Kang the Conqueror. Kang was first seen in the MCU in the Loki Disney+ series, in which he was the person controlling the timeline and consequently the Time Variance Authority (TVA). At the end of the show’s season (and the timeline changes made by Loki and his variants) Kang seemed to be in total command of the TVA, not just a puppeteer in the background. He is also set to be a villain in the new Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023). Since this new Ant-Man and the Wasp movie will kick off phase 5 of the MCU, Kang will likely be an important piece during the period, carrying a huge presence towards the end of phase 6 with both Avengers movies.

There is not much right now besides the announcement of both movies, but Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars are set to conclude phase 6 and the new “Multiverse Saga”, comprising phases 4 through 6. Jonathan Majors will reprise his role as Kang once again for both the new Ant-Man and the Wasp and Avengers movies, and the new Avengers team will be formed along this new part of the MCU. With both the deaths of Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame and Chris Evans’ Captain America (off-screen) during Falcon and the Winter Soldier series, lots of changes are on the horizon.
