Though Ubisoft might be struggling, it still holds a large franchise. That has been proved with the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which has become the second-highest-selling title from launch for the company.

It was revealed on Saturday that Shadows has seen 2 million activations, while a source within Ubisoft has revealed more. Even without specific sales figures, Shadows sits second-best in Day 1 sales revenue for the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Losing out to Valhalla. Shadows also holds the title of best Day 1 launch on the PlayStation Store across Ubisoft’s entire library.

On Steam, Shadows has overtaken the previous holder of the all-time peak users stat for the franchise, Odyssey. The PC platform accounts for 27% of all activations, with Steam being the majority of players on the platform.

Originally set for release on November 15, 2024, Ubisoft delayed Assassin’s Creed Shadows into February 2025, though early into the new year would delay it an extra month to “allow the team to better incorporate the player feedback” they had received to “help create the best conditions for launch”.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows launched on March 20 across PC stores, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. An expansion, titled Claws Of Awaji, will be released later in the year.
