'Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom' Tops Holiday Box Office Amid Stiff Competition
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom made it to the number one spot just in time for Christmas, beating Timothée Chalamet’s Wonka into second place. But the musical adaptation of The Color Purple has reportedly had the second biggest Christmas Day opening of all time, so its likely to be a brief stay at the top for Jason Momoa.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’s take still might not impress Warner Bros Discovery. So far it has brought in $100 million worldwide since its release on the 22nd December, against a budget of $205 million. The movie has been plagued with controversy. There have been reports of bad behavior on set from the Aquaman star, as well as the infamous court case with Amber Heard, and this is likely to have affected ticket sales.
