Marvel’s Thunderbolts movie is dealing with a few cast shake-ups. Previously, Steven Yuen was on board to play Sentry but had to depart the project due to scheduling conflicts. Now, Ayo Edebiri is also departing the project because of scheduling conflicts. Edebiri’s role was unknown, but she was rumored to play Songbird, a founding member of the Thunderbolts in the comics. Geraldine Viswanathan stepped up to replace Edebiri while Lewis Pullman will replace Yuen’s role. Yuen indicated he would still be interested in future Marvel Cinematic Universe projects. The scheduling conflicts are likely a delayed effect of the SAG-AFTRA strikes as filming was pushed back to accommodate the striking workers.

Thunderbolts will follow a team of antiheroes and reformed villains including Sebastian Stan as the team leader Bucky Barnes, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as John Walker, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr also known as Ghost, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allera de Fontaine. Harrison Ford will join the cast as Thunderbolt Ross, previously played by the late William Hurt. Jake Schrier will direct the film with Lee Sung Jin and Eric Pearson writing the script.  Pearson worked on Marvel’s Black Widow and Thor: Ragnarok. Marvel’s Thunderbolts will come to movie theaters on June 24, 2024.
