An Actual Bear Forced Disney World To Close Rides In Magic Kingdom
Early Monday morning a black bear thought she’d peek in from a treetop in the most magical place on earth, causing quite a fuss. Her presence required that several of Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom attractions, rides, and lands to close so that she could be safely captured. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission worked with park officials, biologists, and law enforcement to handle the situation.
The part of the park most impacted by the visiting unofficial member of the Country Bear Jamboree was the west side which included parts of Adventureland, Frontierland, and Liberty Square. Many of Magic Kingdom’s rides experienced temporary shutdowns. These closures included Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Haunted Mansion, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Most of the attractions were fully operational by the afternoon hours.

The FWC released a statement early on Monday morning stating that the, "The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) [was] aware of a black bear reported in a tree on Walt Disney World property at the Magic Kingdom. Biologists with the FWC’s Bear Management Program, as well as FWC Law Enforcement officers, [were] on scene." Additionally, FWC reminded people that "In most cases, it is best for bears to be given space and to move along on their own, but given this situation, staff [worked] on capturing and relocating the bear."
And safely relocate, they most certainly did. FWC shared on X the release video, showing the successful release of House of Mouse’s wildest fan in the Ocala National Forest. She was released Tuesday in the early morning hours. One commenter on X observed that “If imagineers don’t somehow work “good bear go go go” into a refreshed country bear jamboree then what are they even doing?” Check out the post on X to see the release video.
