Amazon's 'Silk' Series Has Set A Return Date For It's Writers Room
Amazon Studios has several projects in the pipeline, and one of them is getting an update. The Silk series is opening the writers’ room back up in January 2024. Silk: Spider Society was one of several Spider-Man spin-offs pitched in the wake of Into the Spider-Verse. The series had been at the center of a dispute with the combined Writers Guilds of America over the decision to close the writers’ room, with many threatening to strike. With the room opening back up next month, it appears as though the strike has been averted. That is good, as we’re still just getting over another strike.
Amazon and Sony also have several other Spider-Man spin-offs in the works, including Spider-Man: Noir. This noir version of the web-slinger made his big screen debut in Into the Spider-Verse, and there are sure to be plenty more where that came from. Sony has the rights to more than 900 characters from the Spider-Man comics, and it plans to use them on Amazon’s Prime Video service and MGM’s MGM+ platform. There have been a lot of developments in Sony’s Spider-Verse, and who knows where it will go next. We just have to stay tuned.
