A Sequel To 'Wizards Of Waverly Place' Is In The Works At Disney With Selena Gomez And David Henrie Returning
Selena Gomez and David Henrie are reuniting to cast a spell on a new generation of Disney Channel fans. That’s right, Wizards of Waverly Place is getting a sequel! Gomez and Henrie will be executive producers of the pilot episode, with both actors reprising their roles as siblings Alex and Justin Russo. Gomez will guest star in the pilot to help her big brother, who has chosen to leave the Wizarding World to pursue a human life with his wife, Giada, and two sons. Not much is known about the plot except that an incident has occurred at WizTech. A young wizard will reach out to Justin for his help. The future of the Wizarding World will depend on Justin to take this wizard under his wing.
Henrie will continue as a series regular and will be joined by cast members from other popular Disney Channel properties (Roll with It, Call Me Kat, and American Princess) – Janice LeAnn Brown (Billie – the young wizard in need of training), Alkaio Thiele (Roman Russo – Justin’s eldest son), and Mimi Gianopulos (Giada Russo). Additionally, the executive producers behind the That’s So Raven spinoff, Raven’s Home – Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas serve as writers and executive producers. Gary Marsh, who discovered Selena Gomez at an open casting call in Dallas, Texas, for the original Wizards of Waverly Place, will executive produce the sequel alongside Andy Fickman (Race to Witch Mountain). Fickman will be directing.
