Summer Game Fest 2023 had more than just game announcements, with a world premiere for the official trailer of the third season of The Witcher being shown at the event.

“Neutrality. It won’t get you a statue,” Henry Cavill’s Geralt says while looking at one with Freya Allan’s Ciri and Anya Chalotra’s Yennefer. “But it’ll certainly help in keeping you alive.” That opening narration sets up the tone perfectly for the rest of the trailer, which features a coming war in which they will be involved.

This third season will be Henry Cavill’s last portraying Geralt of Rivia. From season 4 onward, Liam Hemsworth will be taking over the role. The story has developed in such a way that a sendoff can be given for Cavill’s take on the character, utilising plot elements from Andrzej Sapkowski’s fourth novel in The Witcher saga – Time of Contempt. These events will see Geralt in a new mindset for season 4 of the Netflix series, different than what the audience will expect.

This third season of The Witcher will release on Netflix in two volumes, with the first arriving June 29. The second will follow a month later, on July 27. The first two seasons are already on Netflix.
