A New Trailer For 'Star Wars: Skeleton Crew' Arrives One Month Before Series Premiere
Nostalgia is a heavy drug for the Star Wars community. It’s the foundation of every debate they have, every collectible they have, and every ounce of excitement they feel for a new project.
Next month, the newest Star Wars project premieres with Skeleton Crew, and to stoke the excitement, a new trailer was released, and it’s oozing with nostalgia.
Take your pick for feelings of nostalgia from the trailer, but the general 80s vibe (I mean, look at the thumbnail above!) with the music and clear inspiration from The Goonies is the strongest. A bunch of kids come across a relic of the Old Republic and find themselves hunted by pirates. Pure Goonies energy.
If any indicator of where the fandom film industry is these days, it’s clear that fans want weird. Agatha is one of the more successful Marvel franchises of late, and it doesn’t follow the typical superhero mold we’ve seen over the last decade. Every indicator says the same for Skeleton Crew. Aside from the throwback to the 80s adventure movie, we got glimpses of a scene as of yet to be seen in a Star Wars IP, an idyllic suburb on an earth-like planet complete with manicured lawns and cars rolling down a quiet street.
There’s certainly plenty of mystery left, especially with the knowledge that Filoni is building the Star Wars universe toward its own version of Endgame. The show premiers on December 3.
