The world anxiously awaits news of the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender adaptation on Netflix. Previous reporting about release dates has the live-action show coming sometime this year. There have been all sorts of other announcements about ATLA-related projects coming, from the Zuko movie to the adult Gaang movie, but still waiting for something on the live-action show.

To sate ATLA fans’ appetite, it was announced today that the new graphic novel to join the growing ATLA print universe, which stars everyone’s favorite sociopathic, blue-fire-bending, former princess, Azula, is coming in September.

Releasing on September 26, a description of the new graphic novel dropped today alongside announcing the release date. According to the description, Azula is campaigning to destabilize her brother’s kingdom. Her brother would be none other than Fire Lord Zuko. Her latest attempt is a failure, and she takes refuge in a temple in a forest with a solitary monk. It turns out to not be that simple, and she will have to face her past and have a shot at the redemption she’s always wanted.

If you’re wondering how Azula isn’t in prison after the end of Avatar: The Last Airbender, that was answered in the sequel comicThe Search. Zuko takes pity on her and places her in a mental health facility, but when the mystery of his mother’s exile becomes too much to bear, he frees his sister, and together with Aang and the others, they set out to find out what became of their mother. In the process, and after discovering their mother’s secret, she runs away.

Azula has been a fan favorite for some time, and many think she’s owed a redemption arc like her brother. To find out, pick up the new graphic novel this September to see if Azula really does redeem her past.
