Dungeons & Dragons players have a new way to explore the multiverse. Adam Lee compiled an art book, Worlds & Realms: Adventures From Greyhawk to Faerûn and Beyond, explaining locations from all five editions of the role-playing game. Rather than just presenting the art with matter-of-face explanations, Lee crafts a narrative with the mage Mordenkainen serving as a guide through the various realms. An excerpt from the book describes the dark realm of Shadowfell, “It is a toxic plane of darkness and power. It is the hidden place that hates the light. It is the frontier of worlds unknown.” As Mordenkainen continues leading his party, readers can expect the mage to provide similar lore.

On the lighter side of things, Mordenkainen recounts meeting the innkeeper at the Golden Dragon Inn. Lee writes, “Hibberton rolled up his sleeve and showed me an intricate and perceptibly magic tattoo that was inscribed from his forearm to his shoulder. ‘This is the mark of Hospitality,” Hibberton said. ‘I use its power to run every aspect of this inn, to make everything pleasing, to make the food and drink impeccable, and to lift the burden for every guest.’” The narrative is interspersed with intricate and original artwork showcasing locations and characters from the franchise. The book was released on October 29, 2024, and is selling at $50.
