'Smallville' Animated Television Series In The Works
That is one awesome theme song for a television show. Let’s hope it’s used again! That’s right, everyone, a continuation of the popular superhero television series of the 2000s Smallville is in development for a possible comeback in the future.
Recently in an Instagram post from @tarierl22, series star Tom Welling (Clark Kent/Superman) made a video greeting for a fan and dropped a big tease of a possible revival of sorts in an upcoming animated spin off. Welling did confirm that he and his fellow Smallville co-star Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luthor) are working on an animated series to "bring those characters back to life" and at the same time teasing that they are planning to "use as many original cast members as possible:"
"Maybe there's a Smallville marathon coming your way. Michael Rosenbaum and I are actually working on an animated series to bring those characters back to life and use as many original cast members as possible. Don't tell anybody though, it's a secret that we're working on."
To be quite honest, we are not so sure if the video was an actual confirmation from Welling. However, it would make sense if the remake of Welling version of Clark Kent is going to be an animated series. Remember that the last episode of Smallville ended with Clark's final transformation into Superman. However, when Arrowverse's Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover caught up with Welling’s Clark, the audience discovered that the heroics of Welling's Superman only lasted for only a decade before he settled down and started a family with Lois Lane. Because of this decision, Welling’s Clark had given up his Kryptonian abilities for good.
