A Humanitarian During The Separatist Fallout
The Republic faced a severe political crisis when Count Dooku spearheaded the Separatist movement, calling for the formation of a Confederacy of Independent Systems. During CIS's formative years, the mass exodus of systems withdrawing from the Republic caused considerable panic among the general population of different planets, contributing to an influx of refugees. Using his reputation and influence as a popular politician, Bail Organa pushed for the loosening of Alderaan's immigration restrictions to facilitate refugee resettlement.
Member Of The Loyalist Committee
As a dedicated member of the Republic, Organa was also appointed to the Loyalist Committee, a political group established with the ideals and aim of preventing the Republic from breaking apart under the Separatist’s influence. His belief of peace under the Republic was reflected from his political loyalty, resilience from corruption, and notably his deep respect for the Jedi as keepers of the peace. He had no hesitation in helping the Jedi during the events of Order 66 and the Great Jedi Purge, particularly Masters Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi as seen in Revenge of the Sith.
An Advocate For Peace And Democracy During The Imperial Era
After the Galactic Republic was "reorganized” into the first Galactic Empire, Bail Organa continued his political career in the same senatorial capacity in the Imperial Senate from 19 BBY to 1 BBY, up until the Senate's dissolution by Emperor Palpatine as explained by Grand Moff Tarkin in A New Hope. During this time period, with the aid of his adopted daughter Princess Leia, and other activists like Mon Mothma, Organa secretly supported the Rebel Alliance’s fight against the Empire's tyrannical grip on the galaxy as seen in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Beyond Canon
Bail Organa was also an important character in the storyline of the 2008 video game The Force Unleashed. While the game is no longer regarded as canon, it is interesting to note the details behind the Rebel Alliance's formation and Organa's instrumental role in it. Initially embarking on a journey in search of surviving Jedi such as Rahm Kota and Shaak Ti. The storyline progresses with him secretly meeting with Garm Bel Iblis, Mon Mothma, and Leia Organa on Corellia, in which he agreed to take up the role of funding the Rebel Alliance, while the others provided the fleet and soldiers. Following their abrupt capture and Galen Marek (Starkiller) sacrificing himself to save them on board the Death Star, the meeting continued on Kashyyyk and the rebellion was born.
Received A Falsified Report About The Tantive IV
During the timeline of A New Hope, Organa received a falsified report stating that the Tantive IV encountered an unavoidable meteor field, which resulted in the death of everyone on board including Princess Leia and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
