The Best Moments From The 'Ahsoka' Premiere
The long-awaited premiere of Ahsoka finally happened this past Tuesday. Fans finally got to see Rosario Dawson play this iconic character for more than a few moments. Fans also got to see the introduction of Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and Sabien Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) to live action. Both of them will aid Ahsoka in her journey to find Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn. We also got to see Baylan Skoll, and his apprentice, Shin Hati in action. Both of them will be aiding Morgan Elsbeth, Thrawn’s apprentice, in her quest to find and bring back Thrawn. The premiere consisted of two episodes and gave us many great moments. It feels like a Star Wars show, so let's look at some of the best moments from the premiere.
**Spoilers below for the first two episodes of Ahsoka**
Hello, World!
5. The Opening Crawl
This was the most surprising and unexpected part of the premiere. We were treated to an opening crawl, that let fans know what was going on. This helped amplify the original series vibes felt throughout the episode. The crawl was a bit different from that of the films, and instead of the text being yellow and read from an angle, this was vertical and the text was red. It gave it a darker vibe and seemed to match the show. This was also such a cool moment, as it was the first Star Wars TV series to do an opening crawl, even if it was just on the first episode.

4. Shin Hati And Sabine Wren’s Lightsaber Duel
One thing Ahsoka does not skimp out on is the lightsaber duels. We got a fair amount of them in the first episode, with one of the coolest ones being between Shin Hati and Sabine Wren. Shin went after Sabine for the star map she was researching for Ahsoka. Shin confronts her, and the two duel with Sabine using Ezra’s lightsaber which she modified. The two are well-versed in fighting, with Shin being a bit better than Sabine. The two keep going until Sabine is tragically stabbed by Shin. The lightsaber battles have been well-choreographed and entertaining to watch. If the first two episodes are anything to go by, we will probably be getting many more.
3. Morgan Elsbeth Activating The Star Map
Morgan Elsbeth is successful in retrieving the star map, thanks to her assassin droids, and apprentice Shin Hati. Baylan and Shin accompany Morgan to a planet, where she can open the map and unlock its full potential, to find the location of Thrawn. At the site, she puts the star map on a pedestal and it opens up all around them. It's very similar to the ones that the player had to retrieve in Knights Of The Old Republic. The map eventually moves into position and reveals the location of Thrawn. While this is not ideal for Ahsoka and then the remaining members of the Ghost crew, it will be interesting to see what happens, and how Thrawn returns.
2. Sabine Becoming Her Mandalorian Self Once More
Sabine Wren is a Mandalorian, but according to Ahsoka, she was also training to be a Jedi. Ahsoka and Sabine clearly had a falling out, and Sabine stopped her training. Later in the second episode, she decides to reclaim her Mandalorian self. She cuts her hair, similar to how Kanan Jarrus cut his hair in Rebels and puts on her custom Mandalorian armor. Her Mandalorian armor has some updated art on it as well. She also takes a moment to appreciate the mural of the Ghost crew, reminding her of who she is. In the end, she goes out to meet Ahsoka, and together they leave on their journey to find Ezra Bridger.
1. Ahsoka Fighting The Inquisitor
Ahsoka and Hera head to Corellia, where the New Republic is building various ships. They investigate and ask questions to the man showing them around, as ships are coming out of Corellia that shouldn’t be in commission. During their investigation, one of the ships takes off and Ahsoka goes after it. She jumps out the window, lightsabers in hand, in one of the coolest scenes in the second episode. She ends up fighting an HK-class assassin droid, and an Inquisitor we later find out is named Marrok. Not much is known about this Inqusitior, and there are many theories as to who they are. The fight doesn’t last long, as Ahsoka easily takes out the droid. She and the Inquisitor fight for a bit, until they jump on the ship and take off, joining Baylan and Shin. Ahsoka, being the unbothered Rebel she is, just moves to the side as the Inquisitor’s double-bladed lightsaber flies right by her. It’s another cool fight, something Star Wars has been lacking in the past few series.
The first two episodes of Ahsoka were amazing. We got to see some of the Ghost crew in live-action. At the end of the second episode, Ahsoka and Sabine took off to find Ezra Bridger. I am so excited to see where this series goes and the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn.
New episodes of Ahsoka are released on Tuesdays at 6 PM PST/9 PM EST on Disney+.
