The 10 Best Music Scores In ‘Star Wars’
There are those moments in Star Wars that stay with you forever. The fight between Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon, and Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace, Luke and Vader's confrontation in Empire Strikes Back, and Ahsoka leaving in season 5 of The Clone Wars. These are big moments that will stick with fans forever because they are so memorable. Something that makes these moments, and other moments in Star Wars so important, is the music that accompanies these moments. The first time we heard the Imperial March when we saw Vader, or when we heard Luke’s theme, the music helped made these scenes memorable. These are the best musical scores in Star Wars.
10. Ahsoka Leaves
The theme that plays when Ahsoka leaves at the end of season 5 of The Clone Wars. It's sad, but it's supposed to be. It accompanies a moment where Ahsoka leaves the Jedi Order because no one supported her when she was framed. The music is perfect for this part.
9. The Mandalorian theme
One of the few pieces on this list that was not composed by John Williams. This piece fits so well for The Mandalorian, with both characters on show. It has that western feel, but also a satisfying buildup, just like the show. The score itself also is just amazing alone.

8. Battle Of Heroes
A chorus is used in this theme, just like it was in Duel of the Fates, and shows the solemnity of the final battle. The battle between master and apprentice, and where it all ends and turns for the worst. We see Anakin turn to the dark side once and for all, and Obi-Wan has to fight him. This song adds to the emotional of the already emotional scene.
7. Finale
This is what wrapped up not only the sequel trilogy but the Skywalker Saga too. It takes parts of the different scores and puts them all together in one. They all flow beautifully together and truly show how powerful the music of Star Wars is. This was an excellent way to wrap up the Skywalker Saga.
6. Rey's Theme
This song introduces us to the wonderful character that is Rey. It shows her curiosity and a sense of urgency. But it eventually evolves to show her softness and her importance in the saga. It has everything in it that Rey is, and is a brilliant and underrated score in the series.
5. Across The Stars (A Love Theme)
This theme from Attack of the Clones may not have the importance some of these others have, but it's one of my personal favorites. While it repeats a lot throughout the score, it's beautiful and tragic, and portrays the doomed romance between Padme and Anakin beautifully.
4. Duel Of The Fates
The theme that accompanies the final fight in The Phantom Menace, and one of the greatest lightsaber fights of all time. It accompanies the fight of Obi-Wan and Qui Gon against the sith lord, Darth Maul-the battle between good and evil. The chorus starts and sets up what the fight will be like. Its gains momentum as it goes on, just like the fight. The score is one of the best and is a fan favorite.
3. The Force Theme/Binary Sunset
The most emotionally powerful theme in all of Star Wars. It's the one that brings hope. This is the theme that accompanies Luke looking out to the binary suns at the end of A New Hope. It's also one of the most recognizable pieces from Star Wars.
2. Main Theme
Probably the most popular theme of all time, and certainly one of the most recognizable. This theme incorporates everything Star Wars has to offer and is most often accompanied by scrolling text at the beginning of each movie.
1. Imperial March
Darth Vader’s theme, and probably the coolest theme in all of Star Wars. This was first shown in The Empire Strikes Back, and is the perfect theme for Darth Vader. It’s dark and always plays when he is on screen, and when there is impending doom. It’s an excellent villain song and embodies the Sith Lord perfectly.
In Star Wars, music is just as important as the characters and stories are. The music is just as impactful as the stories are in the Star Wars universe, and it adds something to what is already being told. It also gives the story another layer and makes it more emotional. While the original trilogy may have some of the most popular scores, the prequels, sequels, and TV shows, all have their own music that is just as important. Without the music to accompany the scenes, Star Wars wouldn’t be the same as it is today.
