'Star Wars' Halloween Costume Ideas For Everyone
Halloween is only a few days away! In addition to candies, decorating the house, and watching horror movies, it is also a time when you celebrate your favorite fandom by dressing as your favorite character. However, costumes can get pricey and may be hard to find if your character is not “in” right now (remember the time when Elsa costumes filled every store?). You may not possess the skills or the sewing machine to make a movie-accurate costume. But fret not; here are some fairly simple Star Wars Halloween costume ideas that will not break the bank, and most importantly, require zero sewing skills.
7. Luke Skywalker (Return of the Jedi)
Black long-sleeved shirt
Black pants
ONE black glove
Optional: Black knee-high boots
Probably one of the easiest and quickest costumes you can throw together from what you can find in your closet. Add a green lightsaber to complete the look.
Just remember, the glove goes on the RIGHT hand.

6. Han Solo
Black vest
White or beige long-sleeve shirt
Navy pants
Optional: Black knee-high boots
Now you too can be our favorite scoundrel! Don’t forget to perfect the iconic smirk in the mirror before heading out. Dress your dog up as Chewbacca, and the two of you can roam the galaxy/neighborhood as the original trilogy’s dynamic duo.
5. Princess Leia (A New Hope)
White long-sleeve dress
Silver or white color belt
Maybe you can’t quite pull off Princess Leia’s slave outfit from Return of the Jedi, but her outfit from A New Hope is quite doable. The hardest part would be putting your hair in the iconic cinnamon buns. Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You’re my only hope.
4. Jyn Erso
Brown vest
Black or dark grey long-sleeve shirt
Dark grey pants
Optional: Grey scarf
Not many people may recognize you, but you will definitely be a hit among fellow Star Wars fans. Our reluctant Rebel plays an important role in bringing down the Empire, after all. If you have time, you can also make Death Star plans to hand out to Princess Leia cosplayers you see.
3. Rey
Grey or beige tank top or short-sleeve shirt
Grey leggings or cropped pants
White or beige fabric for arms
Brown belt
Long beige scarf
Like our scavenger, you too can easily scavenge the parts to make a Rey costume. The trick is in how you drape the scarf and secure it down with a belt. There is also flexibility in the color of the fabrics, as Rey’s costumes in the movies range from light beige to dark grey. Add a mop/broom handle for her quarterstaff.
2. Cobb Vanth
Maroon long-sleeve shirt
Brown belt
Long brown pants
Red scrap fabric or scarf
Optional: Brown boots
Mandalorian armor might be a little hard to make/find, but it is not hard to dress as Marshal Cobb Vanth. Don’t forget to complete your look with a swagger.
Honorary Mention: DisneyBound
The idea of “DisneyBounding” stems from Disneyland’s rule that guests over the age of 14 may not wear costumes inside the theme parks. Because of this, older Disney fans have to come up with a different way of expressing their love for their favorite Disney characters.
DisneyBound is simply taking color schemes and elements from the character and applying them to your everyday clothes. For example, making and wearing the Togruta head-tails is a bit tedious (not to mention cumbersome to wear for long periods of time) for your Ahsoka costume. On the other hand, you can easily pair an orange top with blue jeans or a blue scarf with a maroon dress. The sky is the limit!
1. Force Ghost
Brown bathrobe
Beige shirt
Blue tulle
Optional: Knee-high boots
The brown bathrobe has been a staple for many Jedi costumes over the years, but now, you can stand out from the other Jedi this Halloween! All you need is some light blue tulle that covers you from head to toe. Be one of the few who achieve the rare feat of becoming a Force ghost.
