A big feature of any geeky lifestyle is a themed party. Whether it’s fandom-specific or just an overall experience, themed parties are always fun. A big feature of these parties is the creative beverage choices. The choices range from simple shots to complex cocktails, but whatever way they are made, they are enjoyable, and they get people talking. Here are ten mixed drinks suitable for any geeky shindig.

10. Beetlejuice And Lydia (Beetlejuice Shooter And Cocktail)

This two-parter is a fitting tribute to one of the first and classic couples for any geeky elder millennials. The stark two-tone of the Beetlejuice cleverly uses his two-tone dour color palette. The more complex, sweeter Lydia cocktail reflects the character’s individuality and quirkiness. It serves as a delightful sidekick to its companion drink.

Beetlejuice Shooter
Ingredients:
2 Blackberries
1 oz. Black Sambuca
1 oz. Irish cream

Directions: Add berries to a shot glass. Pour Black Sambuca into shot glass. Using a bar spoon, layer the Irish cream on top.

Lydia Cocktail
Ingredients:
2 oz. Lemon vodka
4 oz. Blood orange soda
1 splash Lime juice
Drizzle of grenadine

Directions: Add all ingredients over ice and stir.

9. Pennywise The Clown (IT Cocktail)

One of the *MORE* palatable ways to deal with clowns and celebrate our love of horror. This martini-style cocktail pays tribute to Pennywise’s sinister nature; the cotton candy, grape juice, and bubble gum flavours pay tribute to what some might consider a loved element of childhood. On the other hand, it’s blood-red colouring indicates the titular clown’s true evil.

Ingredients:
1 cup Cotton candy
1 cup Grape juice
2 oz. Raspberry liqueur
2 oz. Bubble gum vodka
Maraschino cherry

Directions: Place cotton candy in a martini glass. Add grape juice, raspberry liqueur, and vodka to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously. Strain the cocktail over the cotton candy. Garnish with a maraschino cherry on a cocktail straw.

8. The Black Hills Legend (The Blair Witch Project Cocktail)

A flaming tribute to one of the first forays many of us took into found footage horror. Like the movie, this drink appears like a classic cocktail but has a unique nature of its own.

Ingredients:
½ oz. Absinthe
2 oz. Mezcal (tequila)
1 oz. St. Elizabeth Allspice Dram
2 dashes Angostura bitters
Rosemary sprig for garnish

Directions: Pour absinthe into a rocks glass. Swirl to coat, then discard. Combine ice, mezcal, St. Elizabeth, and 2 dashes of bitters in a cocktail shaker. Strain into a rocks glass over ice. Add rosemary garnish. Light until smoking and serve immediately.

7. The Upside Down (Stranger Things Cocktail)

A fitting way to celebrate both sides of reality. The colour of the drink celebrates the loud nature of 1980s aesthetic, while its duality and colour mix show that things come in layers and things aren’t always as they seem.

Ingredients:
VINIQ
Blue Curacao
Vodka
Pomegranate juice
Clementine vodka
Strawberry liqueur

Directions: Carefully layer each ingredient in equal parts into a Snapshotr, closing the chamber after the plain vodka. Once layered, twist to release and mix the drink.

6. Red Rum (The Shining Cocktail)

This subtle, traditional-looking cocktail pays tribute to a simpler time and looks like it belongs in many of the photos at the Overlook Hotel. Indeed, it looks like something a person might order in the hotel bar. Next stop? An actual visit to the Stanley Hotel, the inspiration for the Overlook.

Ingredients:
2 oz. Dark Rum
½ oz. Jack Honey
Muddled cherries
Orange zest
Cinnamon zest

Directions: Muddle cherries in a pint glass. Add whiskey, rum, cinnamon, and orange zest. Shake vigorously. Strain over ice.

5. Ecto Cooler (Ghostbusters Cocktail)

Perfect for Ghostbusters fans, both new and old. Many of us can remember playing with slime as an early tactile toy, and Slimer, the ghost, was once all the rage. If you want to have a Ghostbusters-themed shindig, this drink is an excellent alternative to whatever might be involved in having ACTUAL slime. Much easier to clean up.

Ingredients:
6 oz. orange tangerine Juicy Juice
2 oz. lemonade
3 oz. Clementine vodka
½ tsp. Blue Curacao

Directions: Add ingredients to a cocktail shaker and shake. Strain over ice in a pint glass.

4. Groot Beer Float (Guardians Of The Galaxy Cocktail)

Ingredients:
1½ oz. Bourbon
1 large scoop Pistachio Ice Cream (or gelato)
Root Beer

Directions: In a tall glass, put your desired amount of pistachio ice cream or gelato. Pour a shot of bourbon over the top, then fill the glass with your favorite root beer! Drink until the only thing you can say is, “I am Groot.”

3. Kaneda (Akira Cocktail)

This drink pays tribute to the classic anime franchise. Its simple list of ingredients means it works for any party, whether partiers are fans of the original anime or the newer video games.

Ingredients:
0.75 oz. Maker’s Mark Whisky
1½ oz. After Shock
1 splash of lemon juice
Top with Club Soda

2. Utinni (Star Wars Cocktail)

This drink is a flavourful addition to any Star Wars-themed do; it is perfect for one person or many.

Ingredients:
½ oz. Creme de Cocao
½ oz. Creme de Menthe
1 oz. Kahlua
2½ oz. Cream

1. The Clown Prince (Batman Cocktail)

A tribute to the only clown that many of us can tolerate without nightmares. Like the Pennywise cocktail, this drink plays with the fun and whimsical nature of most clowns while also encompassing the evil nature of the titular character.

Ingredients
Equal part grape juice
Equal part Bubble Gum Vodka
Sugar
Green food coloring
Blood Orange wheel

Directions: Mix Sugar with green food coloring. Rim the glass with Simple Syrup/Water, then rotate the top of the Martini glass in sugar. Add equal parts Bubble Gum Vodka and grape juice, then Garnish with blood orange. Serve by saying, “Let's put a smile on that face.”
