Project War Mantle was first mentioned in the Star Wars film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Project War Mantle was one of two names projects in the Imperial vault on Scarif during the reign of the Empire. The other named project in the Imperial vault was Project Stardust. Project Stardust was to engineer and construct a planet-killing weapon known as the Death Star. Project Stardust is led by Director Orson Krennic whereas, Vice Admiral Rampart orchestrated Project War Mantle. In The Bad Batch, Vice Admiral Rampart equipped the volunteer soldiers and have them trained by the Republic’s elite soldiers known as clone commandos. These soldiers would go on to become TK stormtroopers. During episode fourteen of  The Bad Batch, Captain Gregor is imprisoned for desertion as Gregor understands that clones are being phased out.

Clone Force 99 was first introduced in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars final season and took on a mission to Skako Minor. However, this isn’t Clone Force 99’s first mission as shown on Wrecker’s wall in the pilot episode of The Bad Batch. Wrecker’s wall shows at least fifty missions completed. The timestamp for the episode is thirty-seven minutes and thirteen seconds. Clone Force 99 mentions missions on Saluecami, Kuat, Yalbec Prime, and Felucia. These off-screen adventures continue after Clone Force 99 meets Cid at Cid’s bar. After each mission, Omega and Wrecker each get a box of Mantell mix and end up owing Cid for twenty boxes. Another example would be in “Devil’s Deal.” Gobi Glie orders weapons to be smuggled to the moon of Ryloth. Cid has Clone Force 99 deliver the payload Gobi Glie.

4. Origins Of The Namesake

Clone Force 99 scene

Clone Force 99 is a nod to 99 who is the mentor of the Domino squad. The Domino squad included Cuttup, Echo, Fives, Hevy, and Droidbait. The clone known as 99 was defective in Star Wars: The Clone Wars that was declared unfit for the front lines. 99 premiered in “Clone Cadets” and saw a majority of the janitorial duties around Tipoca City. When Echo and the Domino Squad was surely going to fail as a clone cadet, 99 stepped in and inspired Hevy to be the leader they so desperately needed. Hevy awards his graduation medal to 99 on the success of the Domino squad. By the Battle of Kamino, Echo and Fives become ARC Troopers and reunite with 99. The last of the Domino squad give 99 the less than pleasant truth about Hevy. 99 heroically sacrifices himself much in the same way as Hevy. This sacrificial act profoundly affects all the clones within the Grand Army of the Republic. Fives’s sacrifice follows suit as the next domino to fall. These sacrifices leave Echo as a seasoned veteran with Clone Force 99 in The Bad Batch. Echo’s Bad Batch armor takes inspiration from his time as an ARC Trooper by keeping his kama around his waist.

3. Ahsoka Tano’s R7-A7

R7-A7 served Padawan Ahsoka Tano during the Clone War until leaving the order. R7-A7 was primarily red but was also green and white. R7-A7 reappears during the Seige of Mandalore to serve alongside Rex and Ahsoka Tano only to become badly damaged in the aftermath of a Venator’s hyperdrive being ripped out. When Ahsoka and Rex land on the unknown moon’s surface, R7-A7 falls into Rex’s possession. Shortly after the aftermath of Order 66, Ahsoka introduces the Martez sisters to Rex, and R7-A7 is repaired. In “Decommissioned,” Trace and Rafa Martez are trying to retrieve and smuggle a Separatist’s tactical droid head off of Corellia. At the end of the episode, you see a repaired black and yellow R7-A7 contacting Rex himself.

Hera and Chopper

During the episode “Aftermath,” Jedi Padawan Caleb Dume is seen with Deppa Billaba on Kaller. After Order 66, Caleb Dume would later take up the mantle of Kanan Jarrus to remain undetected from the Empire’s Inquisitors or worse. However, Hera Syndulla is a much different story. Hera pulls C1-10P out of a Republic fighter that crashed in front of her ancestral home during the Clone War. Later named Chopper, Chopper is a beloved character that has committed war crimes. Hera and Chopper appear in both episodes, “Devil’s Deal” and “Rescue on Ryloth.” In these episodes, Chopper commits even criminal acts and sabotage to protect a young foolish Hera. Hera Syndulla and Kanan Jarrus’s relationship is explored more thoroughly in the novel, A New Dawn by Del Rey. Hera Syndulla is known for flying the Ghost. The Ghost appears at the Battle of Scarif in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and at the Battle of Exogol in Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker.

1..Lady Of The Marauder

Lady Of The Marauder

In a deleted scene from episode two of The Bad Batch, Anakin is confronted with his darker side of control and jealousy upon seeing his beloved crudely painted on for nose art of the Marauder. The scene begins with Obi-Wan Kenobi harassing Captain Rex about Anakin’s whereabouts. Anakin rushes out the door and deflects anything Obi-Wan has to say. Obi-Wan delivers the best tease to Anakin for his not-so-secret calls with Padme Amidala. The deleted scene gives the Marauder some less-than-subtle nose art of Padme and to Anakin’s surprise fit of rage.

Thanks for reading and I hope you found at least one interesting thing! I recommend watching the deleted scene as it does justice to the humor of Star Wars and The Bad Batch.
