This past spring, Square Enix released the announcement trailer for Kingdom Hearts 4. Naturally, fans of the games started making wish lists of new worlds they would like to see in the game. Some fans even believe the forest world shown in the trailer to be Endor from the Star Wars movies. With Disney acquiring Pixar and Marvel in recent years, there are a lot of opportunities for modern worlds to appear in the series. However, Square Enix still has some classic Disney films waiting for a visit from the Keyblade wielders.

7. The Jungle Book

Mowgli and Baloo from The Jungle Book

A world based on The Jungle Book was originally planned for Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep. Players found the incomplete world hidden in the files of the game. With Deep Jungle being unusable due to copyright issues, a fresh new jungle may be exactly what Kingdom Hearts needs. Players could team up with Baloo and Bagheera to protect Mowgli and take on Shere Khan and Kaa as a dual boss. King Louie may even serve a turn as a mini-boss.

6. The Great Mouse Detective

This world is a bit of a strange choice, but players already saw Ven and Aqua shrink to mouse size in Cinderella’s homeworld, so why not have Sora, Donald, and Goofy help Basil solve a mystery and defeat Rattigan? This would be a perfect world for a mysterious figure in a black hood to show up either to tempt Rattigan or hire Basil, and Sora ends up working for the enemy. The industrial setting of a clock tower would be a nice contrast to a natural jungle.

5. Pocahontas

Pocahontas is one of the few movies from Disney’s Renaissance that has not made an appearance in Kingdom Hearts. The lush green forest, the rushing river, and the tall corn stalks would be a blast to explore. Players could meet Grandma Willow and help Pocahontas navigate the river. Meeko and Flit could be a summon similar to Bambi and Tinkerbell from the first game. Meeko could also dig up some replenishing magic while Flit heals Sora.

4. Treasure Planet

As charismatic as Jack Sparrow can be, it is time for a different pirate to take a turn. Perhaps, Jim Hawkins could sail in on the RLS Legacy to rescue Sora from Quadratum. Fans could see Sora and Jim team up to take on space pirates and recover treasures. Sora could even ride a solar surfer or transform his Keyblade into one if he remembers his skateboarding skills from Kingdom Hearts 2.

3. Lilo & Stitch

While Birth By Sleep had a world based on Lilo & Stitch, it took place entirely on a spaceship and happened before any of the main events of the movie. Imagine exploring Hawaii and meeting Lilo, Nani, and David. Sora, Aqua, Terra, and Ven have all met Stitch already. Seeing him find friends that do not have to move on to the next world would be a joy for the characters. Players could explore the sandy beaches of Kaua’i and help Lilo protect Stitch from Gantu. Sora could also learn all about Ohana and hold onto that hope as he tries to find his friends.

2. The Emperor’s New Groove

A world based on The Emperor’s New Groove would give players a chance to explore an Incan palace and team up with Kuzco and Pacha. Yzma and Kronk would make a great dual boss where Sora would have to dodge potions to avoid turning into other creatures. This could work like Luxord’s boss battles but without the minigames. With locations like the village on the hill, Kuzco’s palace, and Yzma’s secret lab, a world based on the movie would an enjoyable adventure.

1. The Princess And The Frog

While The Princess And The Frog is a relatively new Disney film, many consider it the last of the classics because of its art style. In a world based on this film, Sora could explore the city of New Orleans, help Tiana and Naveen find Mama Odie, and take on Dr. Facilier for a boss battle. A setting like a New Orleans bayou would be unique enough to help Kingdom Hearts 4 stand out from the previous games. Tiana herself is a string choice for one of the new Princesses of Heart.

As exciting as Star Wars and Marvel would be for the series, Square Enix should keep these Disney classics in mind. Until we get a release date for the game, Kingdom Hearts fans will have to be content visiting the existing worlds in the franchise. In the meantime, they can play the Kingdom Hearts Dark Road finale on August 26, 2022.
