5 Ways ‘The Mandalorian’ Movie Could End The Series
It is no secret that Star Wars fans were less than excited with how season three of The Mandalorian was structured. The season seemed to completely shift gears and focus less on Din Djarin and Grogu, and more on Bo-Katan Kryze and the other Mandalorians. While this wasn’t necessarily a bad idea to switch gears, it did give many of us whiplash since the previous two seasons and a half of The Book of Boba Fett focused solely on the lovable pair.
If this is the direction that Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni plan to go, it begs the question: should there be more seasons of the show or should it end with a movie instead? The question is especially interesting after it was announced at Star Wars Celebration earlier this year that a Mandalorian film had been green-lit. Let’s take a look at a few ways that a film could end the series.
WARNING!!!! Contains spoilers for seasons one through three of The Mandalorian!!

5. Keep the Show, But End Din Djarin’s Story
It was clear from season three that Din Djarin was no longer meant to be the focus of The Mandalorian. Unfortunately, seasons one and two set up a very different picture, so changing the structure so quickly truly messed up the narrative and confused many fans. If this is truly what the plan is for future seasons then it may be best to do the movie before any more seasons are released. This way Din and Grogu could have one last major adventure and then hand the reins over to Bo-Katan or someone else. Then when the show does come back, no one is confused as to why the pair are either not present or play more background characters.
4. Din Djarin Becomes Leader Of The Mandalorians
One of the biggest plot points of season three was Bo-Katan and The Armorer working to bring both clans of Mandalorians together. While this seems to have worked for the time being, the film could see the loss of both Bo-Katan and The Armorer, leaving the Mandalorians with no leader. Since they all seem to follow and respect Din Djarin to a certain extent, we could see him step into the role of leader of the Mandalorians which could either end the series perfectly or set up future seasons with the understanding that he would be a background character.
3. Bring In Grand Admiral Thrawn
Thrawn is one of the best villains to ever come out of the Star Wars galaxy. He officially became part of The Mandalorian canon when he was brought into Ahsoka, and I think he would be the perfect villain for this movie. While it still hasn’t been confirmed if Moff Gideon was really killed or if the version of him killed in the season three finale was a clone, it is time to move on from his story. I think the only villain that could take on Grogu and defeat Din Djarin would be Thrawn. I would also love to see Din Djarin, Ahsoka, Sabine, Grogu, and Ezra all fighting together. It really would be the fight to end all fights in Star Wars and could act as the perfect send-off to a beloved character like Din Djarin. If the group were to defeat Thrawn, it would also act as the perfect way for Din Djarin to feel like he had done all he could for the galaxy, so he could potentially leave with Grogu to “retire”.
2. Give Grogu And Din Djarin A Proper Send Off
I wasn’t the biggest fan of season three, but my biggest issue was with the idea that Din Djarin and Grogu were going to live out the rest of their days in a little spot on Navarro taking odd jobs to help protect the Outer Rim. While this is a nice idea, there are still forces hunting Grogu, and if they could settle here on Navarro, why can’t they return to the krill-farming village from season one episode four where they were both welcomed with open arms? As much as I love the idea of Din and Grogu getting to settle down, it just doesn’t make sense for their characters. I would love to see the movie give them a proper send-off!
1. Kill Din Djarin And Have A Time Jump
The Mandalorian is some of my favorite Star Wars content, only beaten by Ahsoka and The Clone Wars. I would sob if they killed off Din Djarin, but thinking realistically, it may be the best way to end the show. It is no secret that unless he is killed (don’t get any ideas Dave Filoni!) Grogu is going to outlive Din by many centuries. It might be best for the movie to end with the death of Din and then a time jump to show where Grogu went when he was older and no longer had Din. Would he stay with the Mandalorians? Would he return to the Jedi? It would be the perfect way to set up Grogu as his own independent character.
