5 Times Obi-Wan Kenobi Was An Absolute Savage

Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jedi Master, was known for his dry humor, sharp wit, and being the first Jedi in a thousand years to kill a Sith Lord. Obi-Wan was many things throughout his adventures, but he is most known for being the ultimate Jedi. However, Obi-Wan wasn’t afraid to do what was necessary to maintain peace and justice in the galaxy. Here are five times Obi-Wan was an absolute savage.
5. The Negotiator
The illustrious General Obi-Wan Kenobi was dubbed The Negotiator during the Clone Wars for his suave diplomatic skills and uncanny ability to buy his allies time. During the Clone Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi negotiated with Separatists General Loathsom during the Battle of Christophsis to buy Anakin and Ahsoka time to take down a crucial shield generator. Humorously enough, Obi-Wan is later sent to negotiate for the custody of Count Dooku from the pirate leader, Hondo Ohnaka. Hondo slips Anakin and Obi-Wan a spiked drink, also taking custody of the two Jedi Knights. Later it takes Jar Jar Binks to save the day. Once again, Obi-Wan chooses brain over brawn by negotiating peace with the primitive Talz on Orto Plutonia in the Pantora system.

Maddeningly enough, Obi-Wan’s charismatic nature sometimes gets the better of him. One example is when the Geonosis Queen used parasitic worms for hive-mind control. Obi-Wan and Anakin had the opportunity to see the grotesque procedure firsthand on Jedi Master Luminara Unduli. Obi-Wan wanted to solve his hypothesis on whether the parasitic worm would enter through the nose or ear canal. Lastly, Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Venator-class Star Destroyer was dubbed The Negotiator and saw battle until later destroyed by General Grievous. Admiral Tarkin would use this defeat as an excuse to further phase out the Jedi from the Republic military. Obi-Wan’s famous negotiation with the enemy would last be seen on Jabiim. Obi-Wan attempts to sway an inquisitor from his path and does so successfully.
4. Anakin, Obi-Wan, & Dooku
Families are always complicated and sometimes comical, but Jedi lineages take the cake. In the episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, “Dooku Captured,” Obi-Wan’s witty banter is just filled with sass. From telling Anakin that “at least he’s a master at getting caught” as a retort for not being a Jedi Master to Obi-Wan’s enjoyment of Anakin’s snarky Padawan. Dooku’s incessant regret about not ending Anakin and Obi-Wan is shown when the Sith Lord is compelled to be goaded by Obi-Wan for being captured by the pirate captain, Hondo Ohnaka. Later, Obi-Wan mocks the Count by telling Anakin to “watch his insolence.” This sarcastic, witty banter is returned repeatedly until the Count’s untimely demise.
3. Obi-Wan Has The High Ground
In the confrontation between Anakin Skywalker and Obi-wan Kenobi, Obi-wan is forced to duel his Padawan. Once Obi-Wan duels his way down the lava flats, seeking out an advantage by jumping onto the high ground. Hence, the climactic scene of Anakin shouting, “You underestimate my power!” and proceeds to jump to his own impending doom. A fun fact; if you pause Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, as Anakin is getting out of his starfighter on Mustafar, the audience can spot Anakin’s gloveless ghost hand putting on his hood.
In the heated battle between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader in Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Vader smugly gains the high ground, pelting boulders at the former Jedi Master. Once buried, Vader coldly turns back to his shuttle. Then, with nimble ferocity, Obi-Wan ambushes the dark lord and brings the high ground to the fallen Jedi knight.
Lastly, the inspiration behind the high ground was discussed in an interview with Hayden Christensen and fight choreographer Nick Gillard. In this interview, Anakin’s weakness is comically inspired by Hayden’s need for a firm footing. However, this is where things become tricky, with Hayden taking the stairs and Nick taking the ramp. This would come up in discussion with George, and the rest is meme-making history.
2. Final Duel With Maul
Two years before the Battle of Yavin, Maul comes across a pair of holocrons that lead the former dark lord to the legendary Obi-Wan Kenobi. Maul, unable to locate Obi-Wan, waits for a young Ezra Bridger to do Maul’s dirty work. Once Maul begins to toy with Obi-Wan’s mind, it is soon over. Obi-Wan ignites his saber and then takes Qui-Gon’s stance goading Maul to kill Obi-Wan the same way Maul killed Qui-Gon. With one swift counter, Obi-wan dispatches the former Sith. Maul is rewarded with clarity, seeing what the old Jedi Master saw one final time. This scene mirrors much of the “Duel of Fates” fight stances and allows the old wound to be mended, as Obi-Wan nicely put it. This scene allows the audience to see that the transformation from Obi-Wan to Ben is complete with his change in form.
1. Obi-Wan Impersonates A Mandalorian
In The Clone Wars, Season four follows Obi-Wan from episodes 15-18, when Obi-Wan was tasked with a top-secret mission to investigate a conspiracy for the Separatists to kidnap Chancellor Palpatine. In doing so, Obi-Wan faked his death and legitimized the Jedi Order’s deceitful deed by reconstructing Obi-Wan’s face into Rako Hardeen’s. Rako Hardeen is known as The Marksman of Concord Dawn and fought in the Mandalorian Civil Wars, much like Jango Fett. The Jedi also gave a voice modulator to Obi-Wan to impersonate Hardeen’s voice. While in the Coruscant prison, Obi-Wan is forced to engage Boba Fett and the Trandoshan, Bossk. Later, Obi-Wan, disguised as Rako, takes part in Count Dooku’s tourney, simply known as, The Box with Cad Bane. The impressive feat is that Obi-Wan can wield a sniper rifle easily and hit each target with pinpoint accuracy. Sabotaged by Moralo Eval, Obi-Wan, as Rako, displayed his martial might by besting Moralo Eval and winning the tournament.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is the ultimate Jedi. Whether he’s passing on what he has learned or having poetic duels with his adversaries. Obi-Wan’s legendary feats go beyond being just an ordinary Jedi.
