The actor is currently starring as Joel Miller in HBO’s adaptation of the immensely popular 2013 video game. Although fans agree that Pedro makes the perfect Joel, the actor has revealed that before being cast he had never heard of or played the video game. When looking at his IMDb page, fans may notice that all of his acting credits prior to 2005 list his last name as Balmaceda, not Pascal. According to the actor, his mother was always his biggest cheerleader, so after her death, he chose to use her last name Pascal instead of his father’s as a way to honor her and all of her support.

He told Vanity Fair that when he is feeling down he will look at fan accounts or search for his name on Twitter. When he hosted Saturday Night Live on February 4 of this year, they even did a skit about the edits. According to the actor, he wants to be “the daddiest of all the daddies.”
