5 Interesting Facts About Pierce Brosnan

Pierce Brosnan, the famed James Bond actor, is set to portray Doctor Fate in Jaume Collet-Serra’s Black Adam (2022). Brosnan takes on a character that has recently risen in popularity in large part due to NetherRealm Studios’ Injustice video game franchise. Many have taken on the mantle of Doctor Fate since the character’s incarnation in More Fun Comics #55 in 1940. Brosnan will specifically be portraying Kent Nelson. In the comics, Nelson was the first to carry the mantle of Doctor Fate. In doing so, Nelson became an operator of the Lords of Order and more importantly, a human avatar for the will of Nabu. Doctor Fate fights off inter-dimensional evils and sorcerers armed with the magical artifacts of Nabu (helmet, cloak, and amulet).
Black Adam (2022) has been steadily building hype over the year with the announcements that Aldis Hodge (Leverage, Straight Outta Compton) will be portraying the winged warrior Hawkman and that the incredible Viola Davis will be returning as Amanda Waller. Dwayne Johnson (who will be playing Black Adam) even teased the introduction of the Justice Society of America in an interview with Screen Rant. Although Pierce Brosnan will always be affiliated with England due to his iconic role as James Bond, Brosnan was born in Drogheda, Ireland. Brosnan is one of many acting giants to come from the island like Michael Fassbender, Liam Neeson, Saoirse Ronan, Colin Farrell, Peter O’Toole, Daniel Day-Lewis, and Maureen O’Hara.
4. He Wanted To Be A Painter

Brosnan revealed to GQ that he originally wanted to pursue painting. He stated, “I always wanted to be a painter. I left school at 16 with nothing but a cardboard folder of drawings, paintings, three years later I became an actor.”

Brosnan has a robust history of activism in several fields. He served as a spokesperson for Pacific Green Environmental as well as Greenpeace and the Natural Resources Defense Council. His activism stretches beyond the environment. He served as an ambassador for UNICEF Ireland. He worked with fellow Irish actor Liam Neeson on the “Unite for Children, Unite against AIDS” campaign and participated in the International Fund for Animal Welfare among others.
