After many delays and plenty of mystery, Star Wars fans are finally getting the second season of The Bad Batch! The series was an immediate hit with fans as it delved into who the members of Clone Force 99 are and what makes each of them unique. Fans had a glimpse of the group in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, but it wasn’t until they were given their own show that we got to know each member personally. The series also introduced fans to fan-favorite Omega, gave us an in-depth look at the planet of Kamino, and brought back some familiar faces from The Clone Wars. As we all anxiously await the Season 2 premiere, let's dive into five interesting behind-the-scenes facts about the show!

5. The Man Behind Clone Force 99

One fact many fans may not know is that all five members of Clone Force 99 are voiced by the same man, Dee Bradley Baker. In fact, he has voiced every single clone trooper since Star Wars: The Clone Wars premiered back in 2008. Baker is also known for voicing characters in The Looney Tunes, The Wild Thornberries, multiple Studio Ghibli films, and Spongebob Squarepants

While many fans recognized Clone Force 99 from their guest appearance on Clone Wars, there were also a few familiar faces that showed up during Season 1. A young Kanan Jarrus appeared in the opening scenes of the season premiere. I won’t spoil anything for you if you haven’t seen the episode yet, but it explains a lot about who Kanan is when we meet him in Star Wars: Rebels. The second familiar face that we see is in episode four when Fennec Shand attempts to capture Omega for a mysterious client. Shand (Ming-Na Wen) was first introduced to Star Wars fans in Season 1 of The Mandalorian and has since appeared in multiple episodes of The Bad Batch and The Book of Boba Fett.

3. The Winter Soldier

Fans of both Star Wars and Marvel began to draw a correlation between Bucky Barnes, aka. The Winter Soldier, and Crosshair. Both men were forced to carry out atrocious orders under the effect of mind control. Bucky was brainwashed by Hydra, and Crosshair had his inhibitor chip activated which made him the “perfect soldier.” Bucky’s redemption arc gives fans a sliver of hope that Crosshair might come back to his friends at some point during Season 2.

2. Tear-jerking Finale

While working on the music for the Season 1 finale, the series composer, Kevin Kiner, tweeted that the cue was making him cry. Kiner has been working on music for George Lucas since the 2008 series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Incidentally, the particular tweet led to his page, Kiner Brothers Music, and helped him gain 1,000 followers.

Anyone that has seen the Season 1 finale can understand the tears!

1. The Original Plan

It was revealed during Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2022 that George Lucas actually came up with the idea for Clone Force 99. While working on The Clone Wars, Lucas proposed the idea of an elite group of genetically modified clones, and with Dave Filoni’s help, they developed the idea into what we now know as The Bad Batch. In 2018, Filoni said that the original idea was to have the story of Clone Force 99 act as the final season of The Clone Wars, but the studio ultimately decided to go a different direction.

Season 1 of The Bad Batch is currently streaming on Disney+, and Season 2 is set to premiere on January 4th!
