‘Stranger Things’ Reveals It Was About Will Byers All Along
In Stranger Things, Will Byers, played by Noah Schnapp, was the first to be taken by the Upside Down. Apparently, the show will also end with Will. Schnapp said, “I think they did a great job with Will’s character this season, and beautifully addressed everything they needed to. The way they closed the show is just perfect – the story started with Will, and it’ll end with Will.” The bookend is nice, but it also shows that Will is Stanger Things’ main protagonist. Jamie Campbell Bower, who plays Vecna, seemed to confirm the news when he said, “We all know by now that Vecna and Will have history, so it would be a joy to get back in there as I’ll gently put it.”
Schnapp, 18, recently came out as gay. He said, “I guess I’m more similar to Will than I thought.” Stranger Things teased the audience with is he or isn’t he, but, while still closeted, Schnapp has confirmed that the character is gay, “Now that he’s gotten older, they made it a very real, obvious thing. Now it’s 100% clear that he is gay, and he does love Mike.”

The Duffer Brothers, creators of Stranger Things, have said there will be a time jump for season five so that the characters age as their actor’s age. They also told Schnapp that “…for next season that they’re going to focus more on Will and build that storyline.”
Season five will be Stranger Things’ last season. There are plenty of storylines left to wrap up, including Will’s sexuality and his relationship with the Upside Down and Vecna. The filming of season five is expected to start in May of 2023. It may be a tough pill to swallow for the show’s fans, but the new season will likely debut sometime in 2024.
