Fan's Reaction To 'The Sandman' Episode 5
In the fifth episode of The Sandman, the action takes place within a diner, focusing on its inhabitants. On their last day alive. Also within that diner is John Dee, who holds Morpheus’ ruby. With it, he intends to change the world with just one wish. For everyone to be honest with each other. But being honest with each other isn’t always for the best, especially in the manner in which the patrons of the diner start doing so. The powers of the ruby turn those truths into desires, with the patrons no longer just talking.
Fights break out, with each of the patrons within the diner attacking each other or causing themselves devastating self-harm. Such isn’t restricted to the diner, as the news reports that outbursts of violent action worldwide are happening. Such abuse of the ruby’s power has attracted the attention of Morpheus, who visits the diner. Bringing John to the Dreaming, the two battle it out for control of the ruby. John seems to be winning but makes a fatal error. The ruby which he destroys to deny Morpheus its power instead releases that power back to Morpheus, who is now returned to full strength.
