Fan Reacts To Netflix's 'The Sandman' Episode 1

The first episode of The Sandman starts in 1916 when Dr. John Hathaway and occultist Roderick Burgess meet with the aim of invoking Death and binding him to their world in the hopes of bringing their lost sons back to life. Ending up with Death’s brother Dream instead, they imprison him in a mansion and leave him to rot for several decades. Having also stolen his totems of power, the items get stolen by a pregnant Ethel Cripps – a resentful lover of Roderick. The imprisonment of Dream and his separation from his own realm has seen an adverse effect on the world of Roderick’s sons, with people falling sick or not being able to sleep at all.
In the year 2021, Alex Burgess continues to keep Dream – otherwise known as Morpheus – imprisoned. Paul – a partner of Alex, has been caring for Morpheus, but “accidentally” removes part of the runes keeping him bound. Upon escaping, Morpheus forces Alex into an endless sleep before returning to his own realm. Now, Morpheus intends to rebuild his realm and recover those stolen totems of power, which have been separated throughout the years and have now ended up with different people in different realms.
