Watch This YouTuber Restore A Vintage '78 Millennium Falcon

In this video of Rescue and Restore, watch how a water damaged 1978 Millennium Falcon model got restored to pristine condition. Our rescuer removed and organized every little screws and pieces to work on every nooks and crannies of what is essentially a miniaturized model of the iconic starship. Admire their meticulous attention to detail. They made the process looked easy as they removed the decades old plastic pieces without damaging them.

After what appeared to be a warm water bath, each stickers were lifted by hand or with razor blade. The stubborn sticky residue remaining on the surface were removed with the help of WD-40 and light scraping with the razor blade so as not to scratch the actual plastic. Next came the RetroBright process to reverse the yellowing of the plastic where the pieces were submerged in gallons of hydrogen peroxide under powerful UV lights. This method worked with the clear plastic parts too. The couple metallic pieces in the model suffered from rust and battery corrosion damage. Slow and careful dremeling restored the pieces to their previous gleaming state. Although the video ran a little over 15 minutes, you could imagine the countless hours that went into the restoration process, given us a Millenium Falcon model that looked like it just came out of the box.
