'The Legend Of Vox Machina' Season 3 Episodes 7-9 Spoiler-Free Review
Love, heartbreak, and loss sum up episodes 7-9 of The Legend Of Vox Machina. There’s also a lot of dragon-fighting action as Vox Machina rounds up their allies to fight and finish off Thordak once and for all.
Nothing is ever easy for Vox Machina. Not only did they struggle to get their vestiges, but they still hadn’t even acquired all of them, as two of them were in the hands of Anna Ripley. Ripley is also another threat they have to deal with, and she is quite powerful. She gets the upper hand on Vox Machina and takes Percy away.
Of course, nothing ever goes as planned, as it does not end well for our favorite gunslinger. Now filled with vengeance, Vox Machina is more determined than ever to defeat Throdak. They round up their allies and march on Thordak’s territory. He is quite clever and surprises them instead. The final fight sees Vox Machina up against the Cinder King himself. Some of the coolest action then occurs during this final battle with Thordak. Not everything is as it seems, however, because now they have to deal with the enemy, turned ally, turned enemy again, Raishan.

If you’re a fan of Critical Role, then you know how heartbreaking the show can be. This is no exception to the Amazon show, and in some ways, the heartbreak is even worse because we are seeing it instead of just hearing and imagining it. The cast has changed some of the moments we’ve seen in the show, which is okay, but this raises the question of whether a certain character is going to stay dead. They gave them an entire funeral, with no talks of trying to bring them back either. I don’t think this character will stay dead, as they are an integral part of the group. What I do think will happen is that they’ll stay dead for a few episodes and then somehow come back either right before the finale or during the finale. Either way, it’ll be interesting to see how it happens.
While the show is full of heartbreak, it is also full of love. Love has been an important message throughout all three Critical Role campaigns. It’s both romantic and platonic love and the idea of found family. It’s also the idea of loving and believing in yourself. It’s what keeps these characters going. We saw this in episode 9 when Pike realized she didn’t need the Everlight and that she was all she needed. When Vax goes after Thordak once and for all to avenge his fallen mother, who was killed by Thordak’s fury. It’s Vox Machina using their full potential to go after Thordak after the death of their friend. Love is the idea that keeps them going when they don’t have anything else. As we heard Vex and Vax’s mom say during her monologue in the episode, “There is nothing stronger than love”.
The Legend Of Vox Machina is absolutely incredible. We are almost done with the season; the next one cannot come soon enough. Even after the Chroma Conclave is officially defeated, they still have other threats and new ones they have to deal with. Let’s hope this season's final is just as strong as these three episodes have been.
