'The Bad Batch' Season 3 Episodes 1-3 Spoiler-Free Review

Omega in prison

The final season of The Bad Batch is here. It's a bittersweet premiere because even though we get our boys, and Omega back, it's their final season. The 3 episode premiere picks up after the events of the season 2 finale, and our clones are going to have a tough season ahead of them.

Once you see all three episodes, it makes sense why it was a three-episode premiere. Each episode flows seamlessly into the next one, and it would've been cruel to only give us one. The first episode is by far the most depressing one. Omega has been in the Empire prison for an undisclosed amount of time, and she has had to adapt as a child living in prison. Omega has grown a lot since the last time we saw her, and that is evident in the plan she comes up with in episode 3. She does her daily mundane tasks, while also trying to devise an escape plan for her and Crosshair.

Episode 2 featured Hunter and Wrecker looking for leads regarding Omega. They go after one and meet some clones who are young boys, who managed to escape the lab they were in. Even though they were both sad and determined to get Omega back, there was some comic relief, thanks to Wrecker. With nowhere else to go, Hunter and Wrecker take the boys and assure them that they will be dropped off at a safe place.

Episode 3 is back to Crosshair and Omega, who improvise a plan to escape the prison on Mount Tantiss once and for all. It was also nice to see Crosshair not as serious and warm up to Omega. This is where fans also learn the sinister reason they need Omega, alive, and it's for something called Project Necromancer. This project could be the thing that explains how Palpatine returned in The Rise Of Skywalker

Dee Bradley Baker continues to do an incredible job voicing each clone.  It's amazing how he can give each clone, including the Bad Batch boys their voices and personalities. I cannot praise him enough for his talents. Michelle Ang also kills it as Omega. You want nothing but the best for these characters, and their voice actors do a wonderful job bringing them to life.

If there's one consistent thing that Star Wars does is that it shares a message of hope. We have seen this done in all Star Wars content, no matter how bleak, and this season is no different. From Omega looking out her window, Hunter reassuring the boys that they would have a safe place to call home, and Crosshair’s and Omega's escape, each episode had a moment that made the characters, and the fans, feel hopeful that everything would be okay for these clones. It’s been such an important theme throughout all the Star Wars content, and even more so in such a depressing final season.

While this season seems pretty bleak, these three episodes have been some of the best Star Wars content I have seen, which makes me excited, and nervous, to see how the rest of the season plays out. The Empire is as evil as ever, and that was on display the entire time.  After the events of this episode, I can’t wait to see how next week's episode plays out and hopefully, we won’t have to wait too long for this family to be reunited.
