With one episode remaining in the first season of Tony Gilroy's Star Wars: Andor left after this week, things are heating up. The men and women fans have watched form the Rebel Alliance beginning to become more emboldened in their moves against the Empire. The driving force for the episode is time, which the rebels are running out of.

Throughout the entire run of “Daughter of Ferrix,” the quick cuts between Rebels and their Imperial pursuers add to the feeling that the Empire is starting to close in around some of our heroes. Adding to that feeling is the subplot with a famous senator who is financing the early rebellion. The Imperial auditors seem to be closer and closer to discovering that it is the senator who has been funding the rebels. Which could have damning consequences for all parties involved should the Empire find out.

Cassian seems to be on a time crunch of his own, although he may not know it. This episode spends most of its time with the titular character carefully putting him right back into the fray. Although, it seems next week will be when he finds his way back into the fight. And it will be interesting to see just how Tony Gilroy pulls Cassian Andor back into the fight he never wanted a part in.

Above all else, this episode might be the most Star Wars episode of the entire series. Focusing more on a few key action sequences and highlighting some new aliens, Tony Gilroy has finally brought typical elements of Star Wars into Andor. But he manages to do so in a way that makes it less of a focus and more set dressing. It is incredibly refreshing to see a Star Wars show focus less on being Star Wars and more on telling one of the best stories to hit Disney+ this year. Next week fans will finally see if Gilroy stuck the landing, even though most fans of the show are already convinced he has.
