Tonight's episode brings our heroes to the Lotus Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Those familiar with the movie will remember the iconic scene, set to Lady Gaga's "Poker Face". Instead, we got Dua Lipa’s “Levitating” which fit the scene extremely well. This is such a fan-favorite scene from the book, and the show did a great job bringing it to life.

The Lotus Hotel and Casino is different from what it seems. Yes, it is a casino where you can play all sorts of different games, but there's something special about it. If you eat the food, or the lotus flowers, in the casino, you will start to lose your memories. A small change was made, and that was that lotus flowers were also being pumped into the air, causing people to forget. This doesn’t stop the trio from looking for Hermes. They separate, which is never a good idea, and Grover finds another satyr who claims he found Pan. Grover also starts to forget what he was doing here in the first place. Annabeth and Grover successfully find Hermes. I won’t give too much away, but he talks to them and they ask for his help to get to the Underworld. After their chat, Percy realizes that time is not normal within the casino. What feels like a few hours to them, is a few days, and so by the time they leave, it is already Thursday. They rescue Grover, and with some bad driving and Hermes’ help, they successfully make it to Santa Monica.

The show, like the movies, is an adaptation. It’s not going to be word for word from the books, and there will be some changes. In this case, the author, Rick Riordan, has been very involved with the production of the show and has been a big advocate for the changes that have been made. This week's episode though had a change at the end that was very interesting, and that book fans may be confused about. In the book, the trio had 10 days to complete the quest, and they barely just managed to do it. However, there was a major change regarding the timeline at the end of the episode. If the sequence at the end was indeed true, then it will be interesting to see how it plays out. Changes aren’t always a bad thing, and I love the changes we have seen so far, especially since they have been approved by the author.

As the series wraps up, we will start seeing more Olympians. In this episode, we were treated to Hermes, who happened to be hanging out in the Lotus Hotel and Casino. He was dressed very casually, and you would not think he was a god. Lin-Manuel Miranda did a great job bringing him to life, and I am excited to see him again in the future.

This show has been an excellent adaptation so far, and this episode was no different. Next week is the penultimate episode, and we see the trio descend into the Underworld. Ares also returns, and he and Percy will have their final fight. We will have to tune in next week to see who wins, and if the trio can successfully rescue Percy’s mom from Hades.

Rating: 8/10
