If you were planning on visiting the Washington Monument anytime soon, you might be out of luck, especially after this week's episode of Invincible. This week's episode took Mark on a major life event, including a trip underwater, introduced new enemies, and showed that our heroes are still dealing with the aftermath of Omni Man.

Mark finally graduates high school. He of course almost misses his graduation ceremony, due to his superhero duties, but makes it at the last second. He and his friends then talk about their summer plans. He and Amber are in a good place, so he’s not too keen about his next assignment from Cecil, which supposedly has him marrying the Queen of an underwater kingdom. Once he gets there, it turns out he's not getting married, and instead is fighting a creature of the deep. Mark can never have an easy day, can he? The creature puts up a fight, and he almost gives up, until he sees the creature attacking. He goes back to help the fish people because he’s not like his father. Mark wants to prove to people that he is nothing like Omni Man and wants to help people.  Mark seems to be adapting to life without his father well, unlike his mother. His mother is still not doing well and tries her best to hide it. At the end of the episode, we see her break down, and Mark hugs her. Hopefully, as the season goes on, his mother will be able to start picking up the pieces and live her life to its fullest.

On the other side, we have Eve trying to help her family and the people of Chicago. She ends up using her powers to help repair a building and create a park for the people who were affected by Omni Man. This is what her goal was during the summer, so it’s great to see her be able to achieve that. She goes home, where she tries to help her family, against her father’s wishes. She finds out that what she did in Chicago collapsed, and people ended up dying. It’s a tough spot for Eve, as this is not what she wanted.

The Guardians of the Globe seem to be doing better under the leadership of The Immortal. There are still some internal squabbles, but they seem to be a much better group, especially after some hard training. They also get a new member, who is disguising himself as a human, when he’s really an alien from Mars. His intentions are unknown, but knowing that he's hiding himself, they’re probably not good.

It doesn’t seem like it’s going to be an easy summer for Mark. The Lizard League is back, and seems like they’re going to put up a fight, especially with the return of their leader, King Lizard. While they sound ridiculous, the ending shows that they have an army, and the next time we see them, it probably won’t end well for some of our heroes. Oh, and it seems that Angstrom Levy is traveling to different dimensions, and making the Mark of that dimension, face consequences. So you know, Mark will be in for it when one of them decides to strike.

Mark is trying to prove to the world that he is not his father. He is trying to atone for his father’s sins, while also juggling his friends and girlfriend. I am excited to see Mark grow as a hero, and as an adult, as the season progresses. The season has started very strong, and I cannot wait to see where the next two episodes take us.

Rating: 8/10
