Ahsoka episode 6 finally gave fans the moment we've all been waiting for the reveal of Grand Admiral Thrawn, and it was worth the wait. This show has continued to excel, with each episode giving fans something new and exciting each time. It truly is a great time to be a Star Wars fan. On their journey to find Sabine, Ahsoka and Huyang talk. He offers to tell her a story, and she declines at first until he wants to know more about what happened. She decides to take him up on his story, and he begins with the classic Star Wars crawl line of “in a galaxy, far far away”.

When we see Sabine, she is more of a prisoner than a willing participant. Baylan isn’t too keen on following his promise, and Morgan Elsbeth agrees. The Nightsisters finally make a live-action appearance. Even though they will be helping Thrawn out, it’s great to see some Nightsisters in live-action Star Wars.  Morgan and Baylan await the arrival of someone much more important, and when that arrival comes, it’s one of the coolest scenes in Star Wars history. The familiar sight of the Chimaera lowers, and we see an army of stormtroopers, however, these stormtroopers aren’t the basic ones we’re used to seeing. They seem to have been changed up a bit, and each one has been given a bit of a makeover, and have some fun additions to their classic white and black. This goes especially for the one who seems to be the leader, who now wears a gold mask.

After them, however, we finally get the reveal of Grand Admiral Thrawn. Now, the actor who was going to play live-action Thrawn was kept under wraps, until it was revealed at Star Wars Celebration London that Lars Mikkelsen would be reprising his role as Thrawn in live-action, and what a great choice that was. I could not see anyone else play this character the way he does, and with all the other animated characters that have come into live-action, Thrawn is one of the best. Seeing Thrawn again after so many years is surreal, and he seems to be the same ruthless Grand Admiral he always was.

We also learn more about Baylan Skoll. He and Shin Hati have been told to go after Sabine, on her journey to find Ezra. They are ordered to kill her when she finds him. We find out more about Baylan’s past, and how he was there when the Jedi temple burned. Shin later asks him if he misses the order. He says he misses parts of it and his views seem a bit similar to  Qui Gon and his feelings about the council. Shin doesn’t seem to be keen on what they have been ordered to do, and since neither of them is fully Sith, it seems she could switch sides, which would be interesting to see how that plays out. The more we see of Baylan Skoll, the more Ray Stevenson is missed.

One of the most shocking reveals in the episode, was the reveal of Ezra Bridger. Yes, we got both Ezra and Thrawn in one episode. Ezra was found by Sabine, amongst these super cute rock creatures. Sabine and Ezra’s reunion was emotional and wonderful. After many years, we finally get Ezra on our screens again, reuniting with Sabine.  I thought we wouldn’t see Ezra until the end of the season, so getting to see him in this episode was a wonderful surprise. From what we’ve seen of him so far, it seems that Eman Esfandi is going to do a great job bringing Ezra Bridger to life.

Ahsoka is the show that keeps on giving, and every episode is better than the last. As a Star Wars fan, this is everything I have ever wanted. While last week was still my favorite, this episode is easily tied with it. The Thrawn and Ezra reveals were well worth the wait. The music in this episode, particularly when Sabine is walking through the rock creatures’ settlement to find Ezra, and at the end with Thrawn, was especially good. This episode lacked Ahsoka, but with such strong supporting characters, it did not feel lacking. With only two episodes left of the season, I cannot wait to see what happens next.

Rating: 10/10

New episodes of Ahsoka are released every Tuesday at 6 PM PT/ 9 PM ET on Disney+.
