BTS Video Shows David Tennant Back In His Tenth Doctor Costume
Doctor Who has been making headlines a lot over the last year. It started with the announcement that Jodie Whittaker would be ending her run as The Doctor after her next and final Doctor Who special. Then it was announced that the man who brought the series back in 2005, Russell T. Davies, would be once again returning to be show-run the new series, and that wasn’t all.
It was also announced the next Doctor will be portrayed by Sex Education’s Ncuti Gatwa, and that fan-favorites David Tennant and Catherine Tate would be reprising their roles in the Doctor Who 60th anniversary special. That was also all fans knew about their return, until now.

Leaked behind-the-scenes footage shows David Tennant on set and back in his classic Doctor Who suit. The video was posted on TikTok by the user @FutureMrsRogers92. The video doesn’t show any scene being filmed or provide any details about what fans might expect from the special. It does, however, give fans a good look at David Tennant in full costume. Tennant appears in his classic trench coat, suit, tie, and sneakers. Catherine Tate can also be seen following him through the set. One could speculate about a potential scene they would be in from the BTS video, but they will obviously have at least one scene together one way or another. Regardless, it is still amazing to see the two of them back together on screen.
David Tennant and Catherine Tate aren’t the only big names tied to the 60th-anniversary special. Neil Patrick Harris has also been confirmed to appear in the special, but his role has yet to be stated. Yasmin Finney has also been cast in the special as a character called “Rose,” but it is unclear if her character will have any relation to Billie Piper’s Rose. Obviously, Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor will be appearing in the special too, but those are the only major characters confirmed at the moment. While there have been several rumors about other Doctors and companions appearing, there has been no official statement. It seems likely that fans can expect to see a few more companions and versions of The Doctor make a return. It would be fantastic to see Karen Gillan’s Amy and Arthur Darvill’s Rory pop up somewhere, and it would be equally amazing to see Peter Capaldi return as The Doctor. The nature of Doctor Who itself makes it hard to speculate on what could happen, however, anything is possible with Russell T. Davies.
This is certainly big news for Doctor Who, and it is only the tip of the iceberg of big things happening in the world of Doctor Who. The man responsible for the Doctor Who resurgence is returning to the show, arguably the best version of the Doctor is returning for the 60th anniversary, and Ncuti Gatwa will make history as the first BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) actor to portray The Doctor in a lead role in the series. Not only does the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who appear to be shaping up quite nicely, but the new series also appears to have a lot of promise for a truly amazing journey in the TARDIS. It may be exciting to see both David Tennant’s Doctor and Donna Noble back on screen together in the BTS footage, but it is likely only a fraction of the amazing things to come.
