Top 5 Batman Universe Characters Who Could Appear In The New Trilogy
Batman has fans across the globe thanks to more than 80 years of comics, various animated shows and movies, and nine live-action film appearances. One would think that would result in a lack of new and creative vision for the character but that does not seem to be the case. There are plenty of unused characters from the streets of Gotham that have never been used in film before. There are also some who have been used but deserve a second chance to be shown in a better fashion on the big screen. We know what may lie ahead for The Batman when it comes to villains, but let’s take a look at some of Gotham’s other citizens who may be deserving of some screen time in a fully fleshed-out trilogy.
5. Doctor Leslie Thompkins
A former colleague of Thomas Wayne, she is known for working in the roughest part of Gotham. She has been both a confidant of the Caped Crusader and someone who has questioned his motivations for using teenagers as his sidekicks. Both of those aspects of the character could be used in The Batman sequel. She could be someone Batman turns to when hurt and then begin to question his moral judgment when a sidekick character is introduced later on in the series. To make her roughly the same age as Thomas and Martha Wayne, Matt Reeves would need to look for an actress in her early to mid-50s for this role.

4. Harvey Bullock
He has gone from corrupt cop to one of the most trusted allies of Jim Gordon on the GCPD. Harvey could really allow for a more complete Gordon arc in a sequel and allow for Gordon to have his own subplot that does not involve Batman. With the recent news that the GCPD show is not moving forward, Harvey and other GCPD members could now find their way into the sequel series. The Batman has touched on how widespread the corruption within Gotham is. Seeing a redemption story come out of that would be a fun way to set the sequel apart from the first film. As far as casting goes they could either go for a middle-aged actor to keep in close age range with Jeffrey Wright or make him a young firecracker type who pushes the old veteran to his limits before changing his ways.
3. Ace the Hound
Ace is a dog that has various origin stories wherein Bruce Wayne or Batman has rescued him from all types of different scenarios. One thing remains the same, Ace always finds a way to stay with Bruce. With Bruce being more of a recluse in this series, giving him a pet could bring a little bit of positivity before he fully makes that transition into the more sociable Bruce Wayne we are accustomed to seeing. It does not have to be this elaborate story. We could see Bruce return home to a healing Ace, indicating that Bruce has rescued him from a very nasty home. This just lends to the fact that Batman wants to be seen as the ultimate symbol of hope and good while also protecting the animals of Gotham when they need his help.
2. Vicki Vale
Originally introduced as the Batman counterpart to Lois Lane, Vicki has taken on a life of her own over the years. She spends most of her time reporting on Batman and has been romantically linked with both Batman and Bruce Wayne, which is odd to say since they are technically the same person. In her early days as a character, Vicki has come the closest to deducing the fact that Bruce Wayne is in fact Batman. However, Batman manages to convince her that this theory is incorrect. Vicki could be used in the new series to show a strong, independent, and career-driven woman working in Gotham amidst all this chaos and corruption. She could show that the truth is always out there if we dig hard enough, establishing a link between Batman and the modern age of journalism and how that would have an impact.
1. Jason Todd
In the comics, Jason is the second Robin introduced to Batman. However, that could easily be changed for dramatic purposes. Jason has involvement with the Joker and ends up being killed by the clown prince of crime. He is later resurrected and distances himself from Batman, using the Joker’s former alias of Red Hood. Jason’s story could set up a high-stakes confrontation between Batman and the Joker followed by a fallout between Jason and Bruce when Jason becomes displeased with Bruce for not avenging him. This could lead to Dick Grayson transitioning into the second Robin instead and Bruce not wanting to repeat the same mistakes. It gives a dramatic backdrop for Barry Keoghan to show just how deranged his Joker truly is. It will also give whatever actor is cast as Jason the chance to excel right alongside both Barry Keoghan and Robert Pattinson. Jason’s casting will be tough because if he does replace Dick you will want to have him be a bit on the older side so that we can truly see his angst and troubled past come to life. If Jason does become the first Robin, like in the comics, making him 15 or 16 seems to be the appropriate age to have already developed that less than enthusiastic personality.
