'Wish' Gets A Release Date For Disney+
It's widely seen as one of the box office bombs of 2023, and while it did end its domestic run at only $64 million, it made more than $190 million internationally. Probably still not enough to break even, with a production budget of around $200 million (not including marketing).
On April 3, Wish will be coming to Disney+, almost 130 days after it premiered in cinemas last November, making it one of the longest periods between a theatrical release and a Disney+ premiere for an animated feature in years.

Wish, which started development in 2018, was marketed as a kind of birthday present to the fans and to the company itself for Disney's 100th anniversary, combining the watercolor animation of the company's classics with modern computer effects.
The film tells the story of a 17-year-old girl named Asha who lives on an island called Rosas in the Mediterranean Sea. King Magnifico, the ruler of Rosas, can grant wishes by using sorcery. When Asha finds out that Magnifico is not as kind and selfless as he seems, she summons a little ball of energy from the stars to help her defeat evil.
Echoing Disney’s signature song “When You Wish Upon a Star”, the movie includes several more or less subtle references to other works of Disney throughout the decades, from Mary Poppins to Bambi to Peter Pan.
Written by Jennifer Lee and Allison Moore and directed by Chris Buck (Frozen and Frozen 2) and Fawn Veerasunthorn (Raya and the Last Dragon), the film’s voice cast includes Ariana DeBose as Asha, Chris Pine as Magnifico, and Alan Tudyk as a speaking goat.
Despite receiving only mixed reviews from critics, it had an audience score of 81% on Rotten Tomatoes. It was nominated for several awards, including the Critics' Choice Movie Awards and the Golden Globes.
