Some more information has been revealed about the upcoming Sonic Prime Netflix cartoon series based on the popular  Sonic franchise in a recent WildBrain press release. Indeed, it seems like there's been a huge influx of information being released regarding the upcoming animated series. This includes the release window, the plot synopsis, and merchandise partners.

Sonic Prime, co-produced by SEGA and Wild Brain, is taking a 360-degree approach to the series in terms of production, distribution, and licensing. The series is set to premiere in the Winter of this year on Netflix, and shortly after the premiere, PMI, a leading gaming sector, will be producing an exclusive toy and merchandise line for the series. This line will launch in early 2023. Other new licensees include Ravensburger for puzzles and E Plus M for apparel.

More plot details for the animated series have also been revealed. The press release states that Sonic's adventures “go into overdrive when a run-in with Dr. Eggman results in a literal universe-shattering event.” Now, Sonic must race through the Shatterverse to piece his prime reality back together and save his friends. Along the way, he discovers new worlds and enlists the help of new friends.

Sonic Prime is slated to speed onto Netflix in the Winter of this year, and it is building up to be perhaps one of the hedgehog's most ambitious adventures yet.
