Gameplay
The LEGO games have had a very formulaic format of doing things. They are very linear in their level designs, although quite cute. This is one of the biggest changes to the LEGO Skywalker Saga game. For this time we will have an open world video game.
An open world setting will create a more immersive role in the story than before. It will allow players to go to various areas in any manner they see fit and really get to explore the LEGO world of Star Wars. It won’t be just a linear experience, but one where you can do whatever you want, whenever you want, within the game's parameters of course.
It will also mean that the levels will be a lot more massive. Sure there will be a campaign behind it, but that doesn’t mean you have to go in any particular order. Open world games have become quite popular in the last few years and it’s good to see Star Wars take a particular interest in this genre of storytelling. This will be a big shake up for the gameplay and LEGO Star Wars as a whole.
Not only that, but open space combat will also be a thing. Normally, most of the missions will take place on the ground, but with Star Wars there is almost always a flying simulation component to the game. This open space flying will make for an excellent addition for the LEGO Star Wars gaming experience moving forward.
Forever Development
Games take time, there is no doubt about that, especially with crunch culture being a thing. Sometimes more time is good for both the game and developers. However, that doesn’t mean the fans can’t get a bit impatient, but sometimes it’s all worth it and it seems this game is going to be very much worth the long wait.
We haven’t had a LEGO Star Wars game since LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens almost five years ago. That is a long time for a LEGO game, but that just makes the wait all the more worth it. For they seem to have added quite a lot of features in-game. Gameplay options that will make things all the more fun when eventually playing this game.
Beyond
Star Wars games are a cornerstone of the franchise. They are the most immersive way to enter the realm of Star Wars. LEGO is probably one of the most beloved franchises outside of Star Wars and makes for a really fun and interesting game in the future.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has long been in the works and fans yearn for it. Hopefully it will live up to expectations. If it does, it will be considered one of the best video game entries in the Star Wars echelon. A worthy addition to that galaxy far, far away.
