What Is The Future Of Live Action 'Star Wars'?
As of this article, Star Wars now has two live-action shows and three full seasons of television under its belt. Those shows, of course, are The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. So with this in mind, we will soon have Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, Ashoka, and The Acolyte. Those, of course, are the shows that have just been announced. There are probably other shows in development or going through the pipeline at the moment. So with all that being said, what does the future of Star Wars Live-Action look like. Is it dark, optimistic, or a mixture of both?
Diversity
If there is one thing to look forward to, new voices will come into the Star Wars live-action sphere. New showrunners and directors will bring variety, and different voices can bring whole new styles to Star Wars, including new and creative ways to shoot and write the Star Wars universe. Even giving a legacy character to a different person might just tap a particular type of potential out of them that was never thought of before.

Star Wars must diversify its creative pool. Sure, consistency is nice but having a wide range of voices is also essential. It allows for different perspectives. Different types of stories. Human stories. The only consistency there should be is the quality of the product.
With new creatives like Deborah Chow and Leslye Headland about to come into the ranks of Star Wars creatives, it will be rather exciting to see what they do with it. These new voices, a break from the classic mold of Star Wars, will be good for the franchise, on the whole, something that can bring in fresh air into the franchise.
Even though the previous writers and directors have been good, sometimes variety is necessary. It becomes stale if this does not happen, or worse, the franchise does not evolve. A franchise that does not evolve withers and dies. But thankfully, we aren’t in that situation yet because we are getting more diverse creatives behind it.
Stories Worth Telling
Another exciting thing about Star Wars storytelling is that they are stories worth telling. So expanding Star Wars on television means expanding the types of stories we will get to participate in. Star Wars on television can also help discover new special effects technology like The Volume.
The galaxy of Star Wars is a vast one, after all, with many adventures happening. A whole universe of stories and TV is about to explore it. Be it the grand adventures of the Jedi or the everyday stories of a bounty hunter. There is so much story worth telling.
The core of Star Wars will always be the Saga, but that does not mean other stories are not possible. Star Wars needs to tell these stories and others to expand the wider mythology. To show aspects of the universe that we are not used to, tell us stories that Star Wars fans would never have dreamed of before.
Bright Future
Star Wars on TV still looks quite bright. Two series, three seasons, and a whole lot more. With new creatives coming into the fray. Expanding Star Wars can only be a good thing in the long run. It will mean that more fans have more ways of viewing the franchise than just a few movies and some books and comics. They will be able to see things that they have never seen before. Or even older stuff in a new modern setting.
The Star Wars galaxy is an ever-expanding universe, you might say, and it’s only going to get better from here as we move forward in the galaxy far, far away.
