What Does Darth Vader Eat For Breakfast?
As powerful as Darth Vader was, we are all aware that he faced many difficulties throughout his life, thanks to the suit he lived in. Vader could not breathe properly on his own without the mask, due to the high amount sulfur and carbon he ingested through his lungs during his duel in Mustafar. He also is not able to see without the helmet as his pupils were also extremely damaged as well, yet there is one question that remains to be answered about Vader himself. We all know that he can’t breathe without the mask, or see properly. But the true question is, how does Darth Vader eat?
There isn’t a canon text, nor proof of an answer to the matter, yet there’s a Legends text that shows a way how Vader was able to consume food. Lord Vader was able to chew food, which he could consume while in his meditation chamber. While in the chamber, Vader could remove his helmet and consume regular food, which he preferred. Consuming food orally was the way he preferred eating. During his tiresome runs throughout the galaxy hunting Jedi, and dealing with the rebellion, Lord Vader had very little time to consume food orally.

Vader’s suit took care of most of his need, which also included food. The suit feed Vader nutrients, which gave him the energy he needed to continue throughout his days. He also consumed RepMed vita paste through a straw, which was located within the grills of his mask. Lord Vader didn’t enjoy many of the endless riches he possessed, as he was the right hand of his majesty Emperor Palpatine. Vader spent most of his days hunting Jedi, and looking for his old master, Obi-Wan Kenobi. When he did have time off, he spent it mostly training and also trying to heal his wounds. He also spent most of his free time inside his meditation chamber, remembering the memory of his wife, and the failure he experienced during his duel in Mustafar. One of the few activities he did enjoyed during his free time was actually consuming solid food.
Throughout his time, Vader was never able to actually heal himself from all the many wounds. As a mastermind, his majesty Emperor Palpatine designed Vader’s suit so it never actually healed Vader from his wounds. That way, he could keep controlling him, and he could also be sure that Vader wasn’t strong enough to overthrow him. His majesty knew that Vader was powerful enough to destroy him, as he was the Chosen One. So in order to keep Vader in control, he made sure he could never heal from all his wounds. That way, Vader could never fully regenerate and regain his full power.
His majesty the Emperor made sure Lord Vader felt trapped inside his suit, and especially after Vader’s failure on Mustafar, The Emperor made sure that Vader was punished for the rest of his life. His majesty made Vader believe the suit was only created to help him survive. The truth is that, rather than provide a suit for healing, his majesty truly attempted to keep Vader in his own mental prison. This suit could mentally keep him punished for the rest of his life. Vader spent half of his life trying to find ways to cure himself, and he even tried to use Sith Alchemy, in order to cure himself from all the pain and suffering the suit gave him. Vader hated the suit, and it made him feel weak and scared scared, as he knew he could not survive without it. Even if the suit was a prison for him, it at least helped him to consume food, and to continue his mission on finding a way to stop death…
